Bar person was rude, not hospitable, in fact not welcoming at all to us , just 2 ladies out for a glass of wine, which was actually ruined by her demeanour and actually just interested in the men at the bar. I would reconsider her position as a bar person who is meant to be warming and welcoming to both sexes not just men.
Lovely friendly pub ,good atmosphere & good prices for beer
Popped in for a quick pint during a Thursday afternoon day out in Dalkeith. Sells a great pint of Guinness. Pool table and dart board with lots of darts memorabilia on the walls at the back. Locals friendly and welcoming.
Came here as a tourist looking for a drink and ended up having a great time. Enough so that the rest of our crew came to check it out without us and had an ever better time!
RIP Bob McEwan. He used to drink here and it's a nice place. Xxxx 2023 edit: still a nice place with happy memories of Bob and Pauline. Popped in today 20/07/23 xx 2024 edit: Went in twice this August and was made to feel welcome by Emma and the customers. Still dog friendly x

Great night was had by all at the Willie Whitson memorial darts tournament hosted by the Ship Inn looking forward to next year a big thanks to Michael/ Emma and staff also Davie Sharp Nd Ryan Bell who made sure it went well
