Delamere forest is my favourite walk ever. You can do a two hour walk around the lake but other walks are also available. It's a great space for kids especiallywith the gruffalo trail. They also have a visitor centre, toilets and coffee shop.
Lovely place to visit with family. Lots of trails to follow and explore very clean and mainly litter free just sadly a few dog owners who bag their dogs poo but think it's acceptable to leave it in the forest.
Beautiful little walk through the forest and around the moss. We parked nearby and completed a lap around the lake in maybe about an hour. You walk past the go ape trails as well which can be cool to see people climbing through the trees.
What a beautiful place to get away from the city. I love the smell of the forest. Free to get in. £10 parking for the day. £3.50 for an hour. Large picnic area outside the visitor centre. Information office was very helpful. Several different trails. We did the easy green trail. Well sign posted and good for families with pushchairs. Dog walking paradise..all owners were very responsible. Lots of different trees. A lake. Really lovely day out. ♥️ Plenty of toilets at the visitor centre. Clean too....everywhere was clean. Café sells coffee with oat and soy milk, but you have to pay 75p more.
Looks stunning especially during the Christmas period with all the lights on we went for a walk around the forest, loads of routes to take so you can make the walk as long or as little as you want. Dogs enjoyed themselves and so did we great day out.
Nice woodland. Expected a bit more from the size of the place in all honesty. We walked with buggy and visited cafe & toilet stop. Cafe was slightly below ok. Have left a review under cafe with details. Would like to see tramper hire here and slightly better signage from the new car park just to point people in the direction of the walks/woodland. We walked the red route but it felt a bit like a highway (we visited in low season end September). Realise e-trikes wouldn’t help this but we did the longest signed route thinking it would take us away from it all a bit but didn’t get anywhere quiet/peaceful as such. Would have liked a signposted longer walk option maybe to feel more of an escape. Children’s play areas (den making) within woodland. Lots of dogs off leads so natural increased risk of poo! The place is big and does the job but not much in way of education, interest or natural beauty.
Really nice forest, car park is good and lots of spaces, it cost us £8 for the day. The cafe is nice with lots of seating, quite pricey but nice quality. The forest itself is really nice, it's really clean and we saw some birds and squirrels. We went on the superworm trail which was brilliant, our kids (age 9 and 4) managed the walking with minimal complaining. There are toilets at the visitor centre but we didn't find any round the forest.
Wondefull place to enjoy with the familly with the pets and enjoy nature. I do really recomend it it has a cafetery área with affordable breakfast and good taste. You can do different routes either walking or ciclying.
Have been to Delamere Forest several times over the years, but not been for a while. Wow, what happened at the Visitor Centre? There's this huge car park (£8 apparently! Go by train!) and vast new Visitor Centre. Didn't go in because we had four dogs with us, but I did take a picture for you. The forest is popular. Even on a wet weekend in December, there was plenty of people around. The place is big enough to seek out the less frequented trails. It's pretty flat, and if you're well-wrapped up, and with sensible footwear (paths will be muddy in the wet) you'll be fine. The Forestry Commission like to put up lots of signs to warn you the forest is doing its best to try and kill you (rolling logs and falling trees), but don't let that put you off! It's a great place and well worth a visit.
