   Lovely days fishing overall on swan lake, although it was spoiled and almost cut short purely by the attitude and rudeness of a certain older bailiff that most seem to be aware of. Genuinely seemed like we had done him wrong just by being there, had/wanted an issue with everything ! I just don’t understand why you’d leave the house in the morning… I would personally like to thank the afternoon bailiff (Lee) for his hospitality, now he couldn’t have made us feel more welcome whilst still enforcing the site rules… it can be done. Lee definitely changed our opinion on maybe returning in the future

   Only went for the fishing so can't comment really on the caravan site, although it looked clean and well run. As to the fishing, we had a carp a chuck. Fished well and all the fish we caught looked in great condition. No ripped mouths, missing eyes etc. Water was low, but at around 4ft out we were advised would be best and it was. Only took the waggler rod as I was teaching my son, but the pole would have been deadly. Fished maggot, as didn't take or buy anything else. Pellet on top 2 or 3 though...I was gutted on the quiet lol. Worth a visit if you haven't been.

   We have been coming to Chester lakes from the very start when you used to drive to your peg/camping spot. We have seen so many changes and not all for the better unfortunately. The fishing is great. Charlie and Mark are so kind and really do go above and beyond for visitors. Unfortunately camping has been limited to 4 pitches. No campervans which is sad as we used to love coming in our campervan to the woodlands. We looked into buying a caravan and leasing a pitch but was shocked at how much the owner wants. Starting at £2750 for the part where you're very close to other vans to £4000 near lake. Fees do not inc electricity and you cannot rent your van to help cover the fees. Our friends have a caravan in Barmouth with swimming pool, entertainment and beach next to site with electricity/water inc and they pay 3500 a year and can rent out. I think the rates here should inc electricity and fishing for these fees. We've had so many beautiful memories here and we're sad they'll be no campervan trips here anymore. Common wood is going to benefit massively regarding the changes Chester lakes has made reading the reviews. Real shame

   I have been a regular at Chester Lakes for about five years, and I have always appreciated the venue for its beautiful setting, decent facilities, and proximity to home. However, my recent experience has compelled me to share my disappointment, particularly regarding the conduct of the fishing bailiff. On saturday, I was fishing with a friend who is new to the sport. We’d booked adjacent pegs on the Swan Lake in order to have a sizeable swim and be within close proximity to each other to learn the ropes. Upon our arrival, the bailiff approached us and immediately adopted a rude demeanor, stating, "You know this isn't a double peg, don't you?" This was disheartening, especially considering we were not encroaching on anyone else's space in the water or on the bank. Despite our polite explanation of our situation and reasoning for sharing the peg, the bailiff insisted that we must fish separately, stating only “its a single peg” - i tried to explain that it would be safer for the fish if he had assistance and was told only the same thing. After agreeing to split, he checked our rigs and went to leave, not before turning round to ensure we weren’t using our own pellets and were only using the pellets from the shop, luckily our boilies were fine. Lastly he questioned if we had our own landing nets and mats—requirements for fishing from separate spots. My friend, being inexperienced, did not have his own equipment yet. We explained to the bailiff that we hadnt expected to be split up and at this point, we were informed that we could not continue fishing until we purchased the necessary gear that they could sell to us from the on-site tackle shop. This unnecessary situation not only ruined our fishing experience but also felt like a money-making tactic rather than a genuine concern for fishermen's needs. The whole interaction left a sour taste, and we decided to pack up and leave early. It’s unfortunate to see a once-great venue decline in both atmosphere and customer service. I’m sad to say that after today, I will no longer be visiting Chester Lakes. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the overall experience/ service for future visitors, especially those who are new to the sport.

   Used to love this place ... We used to have lovely conversations with the old cleaning staff lovely young couple now the site is filthy and toilets are below par standards ..Chester lakes please employ people who actually clean best part of this site was the laughs we had with the site warden Jimmy he seems to keep things in check he should be running this place

   Disappointed in the place . My family have come here for years brought the kids there dog , this year I was told I had too take my dog home , then my family weren’t allowed on site since my tent could sleep more people than were on my booking ,and the owners new system was too stop people who might sleep in the tent than I’d booked for .After leaving the premises (despite being booked on too camp ,) as the new owners wouldn’t allow day visitors , as they used too , my family had travelled quite far and with kids so we had too go book into another place ,every year we returned for the family’s yearly gathering for mypartners birthday . But never again, it explains why the camp meadows were empty. The wardens patrolling the site need too Learn some manners . The old owners would never have refused people, seems there’s lack of manners amongst the staff especially the lady in the fish tackle shop

   We have been coming here for 4 years now. We love it, kids love it, dogs love it. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Any issues, no matter what it is they will go out of their way to help/sort it out for you with no issues. Site is lovely and clean. We love the little bar in the marquee. The site has fishing, little shop, cafe and bar with outdoor sitting and a little park for the kids. Highly recommend and we will be back in the summer with family and friends as we do every August. From the scousers with the 2 little dogs :)

   Very nice clean site. Yes there is constant road noise but it obviously worked as white noise as I had the best nights sleep for years! Toilets and showers immaculately clean, fire pits available on request. Meadow parking is literally a field but it was absolutely fine. Would have been 5 stars but reduced to 4 as quite pricey at £35 per night. That said, I would come back,no question.
