We went to this escape room in December 2025. Ronak (our Escape Room games master) was very welcoming from the start of our journey, and really played the character well for the story. The puzzles were interesting and there were a couple of head scratchers - always a sign of a good escape room! All of our party thoroughly enjoyed the experience, including some people who had never done an escape room before. We'd be very much willing to try out other escape rooms by this company and would recommend to anyone.

Went with a group of six which felt like a good group size for the experience! It allowed for everybody to focus on different aspects :) Also for the price it’s best to split it with a big group! Overall it was really fun and the room we selected had a fun vibe! Ronak was the room guide and was very good at setting tone as well as being understanding it wasn’t our first escape room so gave us the choice for clues and didn’t over explain anything ! A good activity for the colder months! love from zippo the cat !!

We had an absolutely amazing experience yesterday as a group! Our guide (/God), Ronak, was super nice and he even got theatrical while storytelling and we absolutely loved that part, it set the mood beautifully. We are grateful that some of us had this as a first experience in the escape room world. But even 2 of our friends who’ve been to quite a few escape rooms around the world said that this one was by far one of the best ones they’ve done. A couple of things they noted that made all the differences, was the storytelling and how our guide was in character, the props and the rooms were not filled with plastic but actually materials that were appropriate for the period. We definitely recommend that you give this escape room and the Anatomist a try!

Genuinely one of the most extraordinary escape room experiences I’ve ever had. A huge highlight of the experience was Beth, who accompanied us throughout. She played the role of the maid brilliantly, adding just the right amount of tension, atmosphere, and theatrical flair. Her presence made the whole environment even more unsettling and immersive. Whenever we found ourselves getting stubborn over a particular puzzle, she nudged us in the right direction in a very natural and in-character way, which kept things flowing without breaking the mood. Iwould highly recommend "The Anatomist" to anyone visiting Edinburgh — whether you're an escape room enthusiast or a complete newcomer. Truly outstanding!

This was our first time at Escape the Past and we had such a brilliant experience! Our host, Beth (Bethlehem), was amazing, so friendly, helpful and welcoming. She really got into character, which made the whole experience even more fun and immersive. We had a friend with us who needed wheelchair access, and Beth couldn’t have been more accommodating. We played Deacon’s Cabinet and it was the perfect fit for our group of five including a teen, with plenty of space for the wheelchair and for everyone to move around comfortably. Beth gave us really clear instructions at the start, and the game itself felt so different to other escape rooms we’ve done before, creative, unique and so cleverly done. Although we didn’t manage to escape this time, we had a fantastic time working together as a team and are already planning to come back. The City Trails look good so that’s definitely on our list! Highly recommend for a day or night out in Edinburgh if you’re looking for something a bit different. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you for having us. The Bonnie Wee Bothy

Excellent!! The best escape room I've tried so far! There were loads of puzzles to figure out, and two rooms to work through. The girl who let us in was lovely and you can always ask for clues if you get stuck. We had an absolutely great time here, it's just a pity you can only really do it once coz you know the answers after the first time now as I would love to do this again and again!!

Did this with a family group of 6 last night and loved it! Managed to escape with moments to spare! Was very exciting and tense in those final moments. The puzzles are challenging and interesting. We chose to go in with no help from the gamesmaster so we didn't really hear from her during our game except at one point where we made a mistake and got stuck, though she (Sophia) was very friendly and set the scene well at the start. And took photos of us with our winners' board afterwards. We parked in the main st but it looks possible to park right in the grounds of the attraction (do check by emailing attraction as i don't want to be responsible for wrong info!) Easy to reach by public transport too. Great fun for adults and older kids (14 plus really) We loved it!

We booked Escape the Past for our team Christmas Night Out and it was SO much fun. Fantastic puzzles, adrenaline-filled themes and what a great team game and start to our night out. I'll be recommending to friends and family. Our host was also an excellent communicator and talented actor!!! We escaped with 11 seconds to spare!!

Well worth it, I was unsure at first as I didn't think this would be my type of thing but I was very wrong. The girl that welcomed us was very friendly and set the scene very well. She promptly left us to it but was always there on the speaker if you needed her help. She invited us to use the toilet before hand which I was very grateful for! The puzzles themselves were very interesting and challenging, the time flew in to be honest, we 'escaped' with only a few minutes to spare! By the way you can of course leave the room if you really wanted to at any point just incase you weren't sure!

This might be the best escape room I’ve completed. Each of the puzzles required some thought, but weren’t particularly difficult, allowing for some effort but not a frustrating amount. The setting was superb, creepy but not over the top. Oran was an excellent host, they really played the part and helped with the world building tremendously! I’d say I would go again but feel that defeats the purpose of an escape room. Highly recommended!
