   I’ve been trying to find a place to get my boy’s long hair cut as hairdressers won’t take him as he’s a boy and tell me to take him to a barbers, then barbers seem to not know how to cut long hair on boys. I saw that there was a booking option at Handsome Jacks for ‘long hair, boys 6+’ so I thought I’d finally found somewhere I could take him. We’d been trying to get his hair fixed after a really bad haircut at the start of the year and this was the 3rd place we’d been to. Unfortunately, it was yet another barbers that didn’t know how to cut long hair on kids. The barber was nice enough but as someone with long hair, who has had many haircuts - I could tell he wasn’t sure how to approach this. He separated the hair as though he was doing a short back and sides, which was odd. Then he clippered round my kid’s ears for some reason, which is unnecessary with long hair. When I told him about how I wanted it shaped and the badly cut layers from before evened out, he was unable to do that. Disappointingly, we left another barbers with another bad haircut. My husband has been here before for a short back and sides and been very happy with the haircut, but if you have long hair - this isn’t the place to go. Update; in response to the reply from the barbers. I told the barber exactly what I wanted but he seemed to have a reason as to why he couldn’t do that. I asked for the layers in his hair to be evened out but he said that’s not something a barbers would do and he would need more than an hour to do that. I asked him to even out the back so it was the same length as the front, but he said the back is ‘meant’ to be longer. Even if it wasn’t his intention, he gave the impression he didn’t know how to do these things. It wasn’t that I didn’t have an idea of what I intended my son’s hair to look like, but every suggestion I gave was met with resistance and at a certain point, I gave up trying.

   Just had my first hair cut here with Dean, he's a good lad with a good bit of banter and talented with a pair of scissors. Listened to what I needed, had great suggestions and made it all painless. Definitely using their services again and will most likely book Dean.

   These guys do booking which is very handy if you are always busy. The shop inside is nice and big has good vibes lovey decor and staff funny and chatty very welcoming. Had my first haircut here these guys defos know what they are doing very professional and take there time and ensure the customers happy with the final cut. I wouldn't say it's cheap but if you want too look good and have a nice chat boost your confidence definitely worth the money!,

   Visited handsome jacks today for the first time since moving to shawlands. I was seen by Alex. I must say this is the best haircut I’ve ever had. After taking careful time to discuss exactly what I wanted. He took the time to cut it to perfection and making sure i was happy throughout. A 5/5 experience all round and very affordable. Great bunch of guys and cheers Dean for the beard trim! Keep it up dudes!

My appointment was with Dhanny, who took time to ensure my hair was cut exactly the way I wanted. The place has a great vibe and I can't fault anything about my experience. I'll definitely be back!

   Another great hair cut from the boys at Handsome Jacks. Its great to be able to rely on a hairdresser finally. I personally use Alex who 100% remembers your cut and works on it with you to get the best results every time. Really impressed!! And a really nice friendly bunch of guys too. Also...on the covid tip.... I tip my hat!! Safe clean and well managed. They have sensible rules that are upheld well. Really gives you a sense of security!! Its well appreciated. Keep up the good work chaps.
