Renewed my German passport today. The Lady who dealt with my application was very friendly and efficient. A straightforward process and pleasant experience that would actually deserve five stars. Unfortunately the German Consulate also has a very arrogant and rude doorman with a god complex. If you want to understand what condescension means, you should visit.

Review for the German Consulate in Edinburgh: As a German citizen from a diverse ethnic background, I was truly impressed by my experience at the German Consulate in Edinburgh. From the moment I arrived, I felt a genuine sense of inclusivity and belonging. The staff attended to me with deep passion and respect, ensuring that my needs were addressed efficiently and thoughtfully. Their professionalism and warmth made the entire process smooth and stress-free. It was heartening to see how committed they are to serving all German citizens, regardless of their background. This experience reinforced my pride in being German and highlighted the consulate's dedication to fostering a welcoming environment for everyone. Highly recommended!

Renewed passport - staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and quick during my appointment. Was in and out within 5min. Only bad thing is how awfully long it takes to get an appointment (booked in Apr, only got appointment in June)

Recently had an appointment to renew my passport. Both the doorman and the lady who helped me with my application were very kind and polite. I was able to attend my appointment early and it only took around 20 minutes to sort everything.

By far the best experience at a German embassy/consulate I've had so far. I was ten minutes early for my appointment but was seen immediately. All staff members were very friendly and helpful.

Been exactly 8 weeks and I’ve still had no email back about my enquiry. Tried to phone for help and nobody answers.

Everything gets done only using high levels of buraucracy and the staff is pretty condescending and patronising. Getting an appointment takes absolute ages, but if you're 1min late because of lack of parking opportunity you're getting told off. Not surprised Germans have such a bad reputation abroad

You know I thought the Germans were renowned for being efficient? I've spent a lot of time on their IVR system, which repeats the same questions a number of times, and has you seemingly going around in circles. Secondly, 'both' Edinburgh and London Embassies close ridiculously early... I'm trying to speak to them about Germany's lack of support for the Ukraine, but not only was I kept waiting on my second attempt, but there just isn't anyone to speak to when I originally rang, and since of course! Just poor, and sorry if my criticism appears harsh, but the situation for the people of the Ukraine is critical, we should be far more concerned!

Germany embassy situated near by to Hay Market . Walking distance from the station. People over there quote helpful and they helped us throughout the process of application. It was cash only and we didn't bring the cash. They did the process and given the map of Cash machine near by. Overall application took hardly 10 mins and every was smooth and guided. You have to be very punctual about the time of your appointment and at least reach over there 10 mins before. There is sitting constraints inside as it is too small.
