The staff made us very welcome. Good prices for the drinks. Just a little too quiet for us to stay any longer
I've only visited this venue twice. The first was during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the most recent for a Christmas dance event. Although the first visit was OK, principally because it was to see a 3 man tap dancing show, the second visit was way less than satisfactory. It was to see a classical dance show that, after buying the tickets, had been transferred from its original venue. It was most definitely not suited to the venue and vice versa. The auditorium was on the top level of the building. It had most uncomfortable seating (horse shoe shaped pew style wooden benches). The stage was too small for the performance, with dancers clearly having to shorten their stride to stay clear of the edge of the raised stage. The basic scenery was an ill fit with poor masking. I thought that I was going to be attending a professional standard performance. At £34 per ticket, this can only be described as an overpriced amateurish event.
What a great wee place, I never knew nite existed ......could have done with a few more food stuff on the menu as advertised but only crisps and chocolate, all good for going into the theatre, but hoped for something more substantial
Myself and my fiance came to fringe festival over the weekend and happened to walk upon this little theatre to notice an advert for We Will Rock You, so we booked tickets (excellent value at 2-4-1 £12) to watch the production. The standard of production, cast and likeness to the original was a credit. We both thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm bias as my grand daughter was performing...but great atmosphere, intimate little theatre for up and coming artists...Nice little bar too.
Visit to run bookstall at Writer's Forum held here, very friendly staff, lovely food, nice venue right in middle of town
Staff were amazing however for someone who is disabled this theatre is awful. As it was an old church there is no lift and no facilities for disabled people. Had to walk up two flights of stairs to get to the stage needed. No assistance from any staff except that I should carry my Mother on my back.
Regular comedy in the basement, acts vary but a good time assured. Drink is expensive though as you’d expect. Small tables with decent seating around them. A house band to play music.
