Whilst it is highly commendable that antique embroideries are preserved and restored here it is tragic that they are largely not viewable. I went to a presentation and talk here which was interesting and while the few on view were well worth seeing I felt the event was overpriced. (Refunds (requested beforehand) are not available). It is also sad that those who preserve the items are not told their provenance. I would not recommend and would suggest a visit to the V&A instead.

Paid £181 for 3-session online RSN course. Horrified to receive a very tatty, homemade 'Etsy' style kit of poor materials and adverts and branding from a company called "Thyme2create", along with requests for me to create unpaid content for Thyme2Create's website and social media. Transpires the owner of Thyme2Create is the course tutor, and she's using the RSN platform to sell her own private products and 'tuition'. The RSN course advert made no mention the course was delivered by Thyme2Create, not the RSN, so I've requested a full refund. UPDATE 1: RSN have responded that their courses are delivered by independent embroiders producing their own kits. It doesn't say this anywhere on the course adverts or information. However RSN have refused to refund me, so I'm progressing the matter. UPDATE 2: On being asked why they considered themselves excempt from UK consumer law, RSN have issued me the full refund.

The best embroidery classes, taught by the most knowledgeable teachers. So many different techniques are available to learn, as day classes, longer classes, and Summer Schools, up to Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Teaching training. Online classes are also available, with the same high quality teaching and materials. The RSN shop is an absolute treasure trove of Needlework tools, kits, books and gifts.

I have completed two of the summer intensive hand embroidery courses at the RSN. Both classes were excellent. The tutors were knowledgeable and very adept at managing different experience levels. I was also impressed at how well they were able to work with students whose first language was not english.

I had a chance to see how one of the students of this school works after graduation. TINA SAUNDERS the founder of Needles & Sparkles Wivenhoe UK was advised to me by the school for my project for golden embroidery. I have never seen such a horrible work! Horrible rude attitude! Unreliable in terms of time. She completely ruined the velvet dresses and denied it. She kept them for 5 months and gave them back to me without fixing and refused to give even a penny for a refund! I would never ask this school for specialists as they do not prepare them. That is the quote from TINA SAUNDERS EMAIL " I have repeatedly stated my position with regards to yourself and what is becoming harassment, it is not welcome. I request that you stop all communication with me. To be clear I have found you to be highly unprofessional from the very first time we communicated, nothing you supplied was of a standard I am used to working with, perhaps this is your idea of couture: Cheap threads (contra to recommendation) SHE ORDERED THEM AND NEVER RECOMMENDED ANY Beads from a unknown supplier, unfit for purpose SHE ORDERED THEM AND NEVER RECOMMENDED ANY AND THEY ALL FELL OFF Rude! Unprofessional! Bad communicator!
