Spent four years studying here, finished my A levels in 2022, and thought I’d write a review of the place. I had the best years of my academic life at Southfields Academy. It’s not a perfect institution, but it moulded me into the person I am today. I look back with nostalgia and fond memories. I loved my Maths, Economics, and Physics teachers — I hope some of them are still there.

I’m going into year 11 at this school. When i think about my time at Southfields Academy, I think it’ll be positive. However, this school has a big problem of what it focuses on in terms of students socially. The higher ups love to talk about how they deal with bullying and how it’s a big no no until it actually comes up. It got to the point where i had to change the type of person i was just to stop the bullying, and even then, when it does still occur, the teachers don’t do anything. The whole study support and excel thing is honestly pointless because instead of teaching the students how to behave, you just deprive them of proper education. Plus, im in big year 11 now and still know people who are getting bullied. And yes, I’ve tried to report in support of other people, but I haven’t heard back, and it’s been a year. In addition, like i said earlier, the school definitely has some problems with what it focuses on. I am a POC and i have heard racial slurs thrown around like it’s nothing. Instead of a proper punishment, they just go on about “don’t say these words guys it’s not right”. Like you’re getting SOMEWHERE, but I haven’t seen any progress. And I hate to say it, but there is definitely some bias. White students seem to get more praise and don’t get as much punishments, even when they DO do something bad, but POC students (specifically black students) are seen as loud, arrogant, annoying, and are most definitely punished more. One thing I will say, though, is that the way they deal with sexism and misogyny is very good, despite the fact that a lot of students don’t listen. If you can hold an assembly to interrupt class about misogyny, you can do the same for racism. The school does well with dealing with homophobia, but definitely has bias with students in the community (especially the white ones). While this school is inclusive I want to push to speak more about diversity or even have a whole thing about xenophobia like the “anti-bullying ambassadors”. When it does come to the education itself, I don’t have many complaints. Some teachers are boring, some teachers are enthusiastic. Some teachers can’t actually get their class to listen, some teachers can. It’s the average school experience. However, there are many teachers that deserve praise for NAILING the balance between fun teacher and good educator. Although, there are some teachers that I’m honestly surprised ever got a job here. You can be boring and a good educator, but you can’t be boring and a bad educator. I honestly hope those teachers see that their teaching method is ineffective and somehow switch the way they work. In conclusion, Southfields definitely helped shaped the person I am today, no matter if it was through pure social pressure or just the need to fit in. I like the way I am because of the fact I attended southfields, even though this was the only school I attended. I’m excited to take my GCSEs at this school and I wouldn’t do it anywhere else. It’s an alright place to be.

Long live this Amazing 10/10 School- It gave me hope, vision, support and love. I became a Doctor due to the support and the belief they had in me! I started in International Group- and the amount of support you get from each and every member of staff is something you don't see anywhere else. The government has sadly been very harsh on schools with funding- but it still didn't affect the focus and work ethic of the amazing staff there! Great support and highly recommended !

PE teachers are so rude and insult students if they can't handle something.Teachers think they are on top of students and treat students rubbish

Sinead Goodden. A very rude and bad mannered member of staff, surprised she even got the job role! Very very disrespectful, it’s actually sad how one’s life could be so miserable that she’s able to project that onto young kids.

These teachers are telling my child off for mentioning Tates name but won’t do anything when it comes to actual physical bullying. Welcome to the new world

During the free lessons, students are allowed to use empty classrooms if the teachers are okay with it. If there is any issue with the subject or the students do not understand something, that subject teacher would be happy to help over the break times, or after school. all you have to do is be brave and ask for help. As A student, i can say from my point of view that School is recommended. There won't be any trouble if students are polite, always nice and behavior has its manners. With each year school updates its way of keeping the students safe from harm and trying it's best to overcome any challenges that students create for the school.

The best school ever, having a great support for all students and if you ask ,teachers would be gladly to help out. I have made a great progress in my English understanding. Teachers are polite and respectful when you show them the same. I love being at school as it is a great studying environment.
