WORSE THAN PRISON. The quality of some of the teaching was poor and the choice of modules for my course was very limited. Staff and students are also often rude. Bullying is rampant and includes the homophobic abuse that I was subjected to on an almost daily basis. Harassment by staff and students is condoned and tolerated even if you report it several times or make a complaint (I made several reports and complaints but none of my bullies were ever punished). Staff also seem to think that they're above the law and the rules (I was also harassed by a couple of EGIS lecturers and member of the admin staff. I reported it and made a complaint about this but none of the staff were ever punished). The worst years of my life were spent at this university, and the only reason I put up with it was because my parents wanted me to stay and finish my degree. Morals of the story: homophobia is always wrong. There is nothing wrong with being gay. Reporting it or complaining doesn’t work, you have to stand up for yourself & whatever life throws at you never give up ; ). Also I would not recommend going to this university especially if you are gay. BTW one of the people who abused me homophobically now works for the police. 2018 graduate :)

I don’t know what the campus studies look like, but their online experience has serious flaws. I sent several mails and contact forms, booked calls, and made calls myself to get the necessary information. Unfortunately, except for one generic mail, I didn’t get anything. My mails remained ignored. No one joined the call at the scheduled time, and their support wasn’t really helpful, redirecting me to another mailbox, which doesn’t bother to answer. For online studies, it’s crucial to have good communication, and the way it’s currently done, it can’t be trusted. Luckily, I didn’t get enrolled. I’m afraid the studies look the same way.

Just dropped my son off here to start his university journey, the university campus was very clean and welcoming. His accommodation is fantastic, it has bus stops and a hotel on site, and a park and ride very close it feels like a very safe campus and I really think he made the correct decision choosing this university.

I studied engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh and, unfortunately, my overall experience was very disappointing. From the very beginning, things went wrong -my original application was somehow lost by the university, which should’ve been a warning sign! The academic experience itself left a lot to be desired too. Over the course of four years, I found myself learning more from YouTube than from actual lectures. The material felt outdated and disconnected from the real world demands of modern engineering. I graduated this year, but I honestly don't feel equipped with the practical knowledge or skills I expected to gain from a university degree. I've been issued a paper called 'certificate' but it's completely worthless. There were also repeated issues with on-campus accommodation, and interactions with campus security were often unpleasant - most security were outright rude. On top of that, the atmosphere at the university seemed increasingly dominated by performative political correctness spread across like a disease, which felt more stifling than inclusive. Tbh, I wouldn’t recommend Heriot-Watt to anyone considering studying engineering, or business as my fellow study friends have experienced the same, just go perhaps somewhere else - but not here. I expected a lot more, especially paying a top $ (foreign student) and I'm leaving with more frustration than value.

This university is in serious debt. If you need to apply for childcare during your studies, I don't recommend you use this University. From personal experience, they don't cover the total amount even if you applied for the maximum student loan. Plus, they only give you two hours of lectures on the subject. Don't commit the same error as me. Coursework plus an assignment per subject, not much feedback. If you want to learn, this is not the place.

I had one of the worst experiences in this university. Nearly, 400 students were caught during contract cheating. Majority of the scores were biased. So, I have left the University for good. The communication from administration department and financial department is very poor. I have left the University in 2022 January and still didn't receive the refund (January 2023) or any update on the refund. It's pretty shameful that I haven't received any response to my mails regarding the refund or any help from the University in this process. It's a shame that they don't show any accountability, when the mistake is clearly on their side.

This university is all about bad professors They do not even reply to student mail This university only ask for money at each and every point of your student life They are harassing international students from India Once we pay all fees they take it for granted Don’t take admission in this university even if you get unconditional offer as they give admission but afterwards they tell you to pay one or other fees. And they’ll failed you at the end so that once again they could get fees from you.
