The production of The Addams Family is remarkable - this is the top end of youth theatre and the lead roles in particular are so well played, it's hard to see what experienced professionals could do better. Forget about making allowances for age - this was genuinely entertaining. It helps that the show is written with great wit, and you will laugh because you can't help it. The standard of acting is high - these actors know that they have to act with their voice, face, movement and whole body. Comic timing, and just enough knowing-ness, are here in spades, and not just from the principals. You can't do that without having drawn the audience into the play and knowing that you've done so. The dancing is remarkable - both from the specialists and the actors. The choreography is ambitious but the cast is well up to the challenge. An evening well-spent, surely watching some people who will go as far as they want. Addendum: A year on, another excellent show (The Sound of Music). Not easy to do: everyone knows it, the principals need nuanced performances and vocally… well, Climb Every Mountain isn’t easy in your own shower. But again, these guys aced it, with just the right amount of pathos, humour and the odd arch moment. Wonderful.

FCT have created an excellent production of Everybody’s Talking about Jamie for the 2024 Fringe. It is moving funny and insightful. The singing was note perfect and the dancing on point. Put this show on your must see list for the Fringe this year. A huge well done to everyone involved in putting together, especially the kids!

In my teen years [ over 60 years ago) I loved participating in amateur dramatics. The show by Forth Theatre group was outstanding and the Cast, stage crew and production team brought back happy memories. I do have 2 granddaughters in the show and I hope to attend many more performances.
