The courtyard scene at the old University of Edinburgh was the background of one of my favorite movies growing up as a child. Journey to the center of the Earth was an amazing cinema, graphic wonder of its time.

As a student all I can say is wow! This building really goes out of its way to highlight the past as well as the future of the university. From a library to a cafe this building has thousands of hidden gems and much of the history of our great city. Make sure to get an iconic courtyard photo on your visit.
