Sandra and Julia are excellent lawyers. From the very beginning, Julia was very friendly, very respectful and highly professional and understanding to me and my mother. My case was very minor, and had an incredibly sensitive background. Julia was very respectful and understanding to my sensitive situation and I felt far more at ease. I was able ask as many questions as I needed to understand the process. Julia’s approach to my case was very thorough, well communicated and well planned and done in a timely manner. She made a robust Plan A for the case to be dropped in its entirety that made sense, as I was not guilty and this case was not in the public interest, to build the strongest possible defence. I felt my case was in safe hands. Julia kept me up to date throughout and if we needed extra time she was willing to do notional trial, instruct an independent psychologist and argue that my case was not in the public interest, which my previous solicitor Joe Boyd did not do or was not willing to do. Julia would also keep my mother informed as she was worried for me. That helped us both. Later, Julia’s colleague Sandra represented me too. It felt good to have two solicitors working together on my case. Sandra was also highly professional, respectful and understanding of my situation. Sandra was very respectful to my mother as well, who was supporting me. Sandra was briefed on the case and had a very good understanding of where we were at. She was very experienced and understood the case notes to represent my case being dropped. Sandra and Julia were also well prepared for back up plans too, for any scenario. For the first time, I finally felt secure in my choice of solicitor and representation and felt far more at ease than before. My case was successfully dropped in its entirety, which is the best possible outcome and many professionals and organisations supporting me were very happy to hear the good news. I’m very thankful I came to Hughes Walker and wish I hadn’t gone to any other firm previously. After having a very horrific and deeply humiliating and distressing experience from my previous solicitor Joe Boyd, and feeling hopeless with the direction of my case, I left Joe Boyd, and thankfully arrived at this firm Hughes Walker instead, and I am so glad I did, I only wish I never met Joe Boyd and came to Hughes Walker from the beginning, and I would never recommend Joe Boyd to others at all. At one point Joe Boyd threatened he would waive confidentiality because of an alleged google review and claimed he would take me to court for defamation for a google review. He was making false accusations, abusive legal threats, which had the effect of intimidating and frightening into silence. Joe Boyd is fundamentally abusive and taking advantage of his position of trust against me as vulnerable individual. His behaviour is unacceptable. I can safely recommend Hughes Walker, to anyone, and in my experience they are the best solicitors in this area and in Edinburgh that I have met. Sandra and Julia are excellent lawyers and me and mother and many others and very happy with this firm and the great outcome that was achieved

Unreliable, but don't be surprised there fee notes come in thick and fast. They tried to fax a picture of the cheque they were sending for court fees, it arrived too late at court so needles to say the action did not go through, thanks!

Expect them to drop your case if they get nervous without explanation. Don't expect them to understand the meaning of 'reasonable adjustments' if you are disabled. Avoid.
