    Booked a taxi early for pickup at 1 AM but no one arrived. Eventually got an uber after waiting for over an hour. Phoned the company but apparently my booking didn’t exist, except that I received a call at 2:12 AM from the cab driver so it clearly did. This was obviously too late and I had left. Extremely unreliable service. Won’t be using them again

    Taxi cab drivers have been consistently polite, cabs clean and the drives smooth. Plus rates are often comparable or even cheaper than Uber. However, over the past year the booking service has become unreliable - cars booked days in advance sometimes fail to arrive on time and in some cases, the firm has failed to assign a driver over 30mins after the booking time, forcing us to cancel and make alternative arrangements. Nb the majority of the time, the car arrives - but I’d say about 10-20% it doesn’t. Enough to make it a problem for time critical appointments. I’d highly recommend City Cabs (and would give them 5*) if you need a last-minute booking or arrival time isn’t critical. But for flights, rail, theatre bookings etc you might want to consider an alternative.

    9/10 times, I’ve had no issue with the drivers. I booked a taxi on the app on Sunday, waited a while as it said “finding driver”. Almost 15 minutes later at 2.07pm (and the time sticks in my mind as I’ve told them twice to check their call logs), I got a call from one of their controllers to say it would be at least half an hour and if I want to keep waiting. I reluctantly said I’d need to cancel, heard a ‘ping’ from the app which was them cancelling the ride for me then the call ended. Well, I should have said I’d wait and cancelled the ride from the app myself - for reasons only known to the controller, instead of entering the reason “no longer needed”, it has been put through as a “no show” - a message on the app read the driver had arrived but I wasn’t there and I have been charged. A driver hadn’t even been assigned! It’s particularly annoying as I use them frequently for small journeys with awkward loads as I use a walking stick, it’s awkward for most people on the bus in these instances, it’s particularly hard when you’re reduced to using one hand and have trouble weight bearing. I phoned them, got passed to someone else, had to tell the whole story again, and was assured I’d be refunded. No sign of the refund, it doesn’t look like there is much intention of issuing it as I had the “journey receipt” sent to me again yesterday and have been charged. I have to wonder how many other people whose bookings needed cancelled that day had the same excuse assigned to them and were charged. I won’t be using them again - and I doubt I’ll use another taxi company’s booking app - I’m absolutely furious to be charged for an incident that didn’t happen.

    I booked a taxi to take our cat to the vets and of course needed to arrive by a certain time in order to make our appointment. Fifteen minutes after the time we'd booked for and the app is still "searching for a driver" so we've had to cancel the appointment. It seems there is no benefit in pre booking a taxi with this firm as they do not guarantee you a car at your designated time. Very disappointing. It was also very frustrating that when I tried to call to follow up I just received an automated message saying that they were trying to find a driver and I was given no option to talk to anyone. Won't be using this firm again and would recommend if you need a taxi for a specific time to avoid City Cabs.

    Automated service, booked a taxi for ‘now’, no indication of how long I’d wait, 15 minutes later phoned to see where my taxi was, 6 minutes away was the answer. I ended up late for a high profile meeting. If a customer books a cab ‘for now’, per your auto system, and the wait will be more than 10 minutes they should be told and asked if they want to continue with the booking. Rather than just expecting the customer to chase when the cab doesn’t show. That’s happened to me twice now with this firm. You’ve lost a customer.

    Spacious vehicle with room for a lot of baggage. The cab was also delivered very quickly and the price was reasonable. That said, we had 6 cases + 3 backpacks with us and the driver offered no help to load them in or off the car, even though I told him I was sick and my wife is a tiny woman. Could use a bit more courtesy.

    Contacted City Cabs about transport before I came and they responded promptly by email. On arrival In Edinburgh called them and they were with me with 5 minutes. Also received a txt to say name if driver, etc. excellent service

    We never actually used City Cabs this time (our flight was cancelled) but we made a booking via the website, which was easy. When we had to cancel, we rang which, again, was easy and quick. We've used City Cabs in the past and always found them to be reliable. The only factor stopping five stars is that, when I tried to log into a personal account on a mobile device, the only option which seemed to come up for logging in was a corporate account. Other than that, flawless!

    Ordered a taxi via the app the night before needed. Didn’t turn up on time and when I called up I was told that they were still trying to find an available cab - 12 hours after I made the booking. I was told I would get a text when the taxi was on its way. One eventually turned up 20 minutes late - no text received. Clearly no point in pre-booking. Telephone operator was polite but didn’t seem to think there was a problem.

    Booked a cab I'm advance over the phone and staff were really useful. Got a text when the cab was dispatched and a call when they arrived (on time). No additional charge for going to a far out location picking us up and driving back. Had the option for cash or card payments.
