   Just tried to make an appointment to get Public Liability Insurance and was told on the phone before I gave any information about my business that the minimum insurance premium is £500. What kind of sales tactic is that? Never heard of such an opening line with an insurer. Off to someone else.

   Been with Alexander McNicol for 20 years, my car was damaged in 2017 i call the broker to get contact number for Insurance stating what happened. Renewed Insurance 2018 and 2019 with NCD Insurance no problem. Renew policy 2020 then 2 days later received a letter increasing Insurance over another £100. Called broker about this and was told it was because I did not inform them about accident in 2017. Contacted AXA Insurance and was informed the only way they can get my information up is with another telephone number that the broker has. I then asked for a letter stating what my NCD bonus was and was told I would need to pay an administration charge to give to my new insurance company. Do not use this company as can get better prices online

   I have been using this company for many years but recently got charged heavy cancellation fees because I forgot to cancel my "Continuous Payment Authority" & an old policy was renewed automatically. When I found out & stopped paying the direct debit they started to pile on more punitive charges. I do not doubt that Alexander McNicoll lawyers made sure that all the relevant weasel clauses are in any agreement & that they followed their procedures & that I should have read the small print however I somehow cheated. A very unpleasant experience indeed. Needles to say, all my insurance will now be purchased online where I can get this type of treatment free of charge.
