Acting London Technique and Text Analysis Lead by Sam Rumbelow October 2025 As a dancer and performer of over 30 years of experience, I have always believed that, I am also an actor. It is from that unique experience that I express myself physically. I had been looking for an acting class for some time, and, stumbled upon Method Acting London on social media. I was intrigued, speaking on the phone to Sam, as the method and approach felt very welcoming for me. In person and online, the sessions are so full of learning tips and experiences and most importantly, I feel held by the leader and by the whole class. We stumble, stutter, cry and laugh and grow together. I have found my tribe, a place where I can be uncomfortable with myself and be heard and seen. Thank you!!! For this little nugget of GOLD!

Sam's class is both the most honest and the most inspriring space I've encountered yet over the course of my training an actor. The work is challenging, and Sam certainly doesn't sugarcoat it - he is uncompromising in the way that any teacher needs to be if they are truly going to get something more out of you. I've done a number of classes, courses and workshops at various places in London, many of which I have enjoyed and found fruitful - but after completing one month long unit with Sam, I've already seen how the work in his room focuses on a very different aspect of the actor than any of those other classes, one that is vitally important. Sam's primary on training the internal processes and mechanisms of the actor, the interplay between conscious and subconscious through which you can fully invest a character and scene with your own truth, and thus bring it to life. He also teaches Method techniques that allow you to continue your development outside of the classroom - his class is not about touching up a self-tape here or there or learning tricks to impress casting directors, it's about empowering the actor with the ability to make a range creative choices, an ability that the actor can rely on and continue to develop for the rest of their creative life. Sam's class is challenging in the all the best ways; there is ample opportunity for work, if you're willing to prepare appropriately, and there is very little left off the table in class discussion - a daunting thing at first, but in fact I think it's actually the most valuable thing Sam offers: the openness and frankness with which he conducts discussion in the room about everything from the work itself to the world at large. Much is made of the intensity of Sam's classes, but it's important to state that they are also *profoundly* inspiring: every second that I was in Sam's class I was vividly reminded that the path to becoming a "better" actor is to never forget that you are an artist, and to then set about finding ways to become more committed and practiced in your art and craft, whether through the Relaxation and Sense Memory techniques of the Method (which I have already seen to be immensely powerful tools in just a month of class), or by engaging in the world in a more creative way on an everyday basis, through the media you consume, through the life choices you make etc. Another thing that is underrated about Sam's classes is how generous he is; the course is very fairly priced for the amount of hours of work you will do, and outside of class hours I've found Sam to be very present as a guide to keep reminding everyone in the class community to keep feeding their creativity and keep plugging away at their craft - a very welcome reminder given how easy it is to lose your way as a creative in a modern world that constantly serves you distractions. Out of all the classes I've done, Sam's is the one that has made me feel the most like an artist, and it's also the one that has given me the most clarity on what I can do outside of class to keep developing, which I believe is key for any class you consider. Method class will inspire you, give you a clear, repeatable and effective approach to development as an actor, and also allow you to test your commitment, preparation and creativity in what is still ultimately a low stakes environment (there's no showcases, no casting directors - as Sam would say, your only obligation is to pay the course fees!) If all of that sounds appealing to you, then Sam's class is the right place for you to be.

I started Method in November last year. Sam Rumbelow showed me what acting means, that being an actor is not just a profession but the way of life, that being an actor is being an artist. In Sam's classes you will find everything, from very detailed text analysis, method exercises, very intensive studio weekends, voice and movements classes to very practical self-tapes sessions. Sam is showing us the reality of this specific industry and at the same time he's giving us tools to exist in the acting world. His bunch of students are great individuals, willing to share their experience, free time, making projects together, supporting each other. I didn't expect any of this when I was enrolling in this course, and I am very grateful for everything I have experienced and learned so far. Thank you.

I discovered Sam to be a first rate practitioner, who brings a unique holistic approach to his teaching. Training for new members is rolled out in building blocks to provide a common foundation with regular members. Sam's coaching throughout is anchored in self interrogation and introspection. While aimed at unlocking potential, it is also rigorous. Members are tracked and kept challenged at all times to produce tangible progress over an intensive schedule. The November workshop exceeded my expectations by miles, and I came away transformed by the experience.

I first attended a single monthβs training back in 2007. After a few years, I then returned and took a sustained period of acting training with Sam. Aside from the depth, quality and technical development of the art of acting, attending Samβs classes were one of the best choices Iβve ever made in my life on a personal level. Not only have I been able to gain paid, professional acting jobs as a result of the training, but I have been able find connection to both my own and to others humanityβ¦something I didnβt even realise was missing from my life. Thank you Sam. If you are considering enrolling on one of Samβs courses, I wholeheartedly recommend you do so! Itβs very likely that you may end up developing your acting, butβ¦you may also end up discovering parts of yourself and the world that you didnβt even know existed! Be brave and take a risk!! :-)

This month long intensive has been life-changing in an extremely positive way. Sam's experience, expertise and willingness to challenge me in a compassionate way, have helped me to start shifting engrained habitual patterns that were holding me back as a person and as an actor. Through the practices and the encouragement of Sam, as well as the collegiate atmosphere among the rest of the students, I am starting to take more seriously the craft of acting and feel more confident in my abilities.

As a novice to the craft of acting I was apprehensive about the class, what I would take from it, the pace and expectations of participation in a predominately virtual capacity, but Sam was a wonderful support and I took a great deal away. Sam created an environment to allow more seasoned members and new to co-exist and develop together. It is an encouraging and challenging atmosphere. It allows you to explore new parts of yourself and take away new tools to train and develop by yourself. I couldn't recommend it enough.
