Academically the school is inconsistent, despite good support from departments such as maths, departments such as science are persistently understaffed and don’t give good resources and support to pupils- despite being a science college. The school doesn’t prioritise students mental health , especially black students. The school clearly emphasises in the rule book that the dyeing of hair isn’t permitted yet allows several white students to breach this rule but takes disciplinary action against black boys who use cultural hairstyles for hair protection- despite this not being stated as a violation of the school’s conduct in the rule book( perhaps because they’re aware it violates the 2010 equality act). Across the years the school has forced numerous black pupils to miss out on valuable education time because their hair violates some form of “rule” which they implement however they refuse to take direct action against the white pupils who violate hairs rule’s. Black pupils should reserve the right to feel a sense of pride in their cultural identity, especially at such a tender age.If you love your child's mental health and wish for them to nurture in an environment that promotes equality, don’t send your child here.

As a long time parent of multiple children at the school, I can say that the school has been good to my sons overall. They do go above and beyond to help out, sometimes without you even knowing what they do behind the scenes. There are some staff who really do care for the children, however sometimes it is not all rosy, but I'm glad that my sons went to this school.

A school that hasn’t updated its rules and regulations since the 70s. No limits for what boys can wear but strict guidelines for girls… feels very objectifying. Cultural hairstyles such as cornrows, long hair and short hair are all disallowed. Furthermore, the school does not give a damn about students mental health. Don’t send your child here!

St. Gregory’s is not as good as they claim. They say they’re one of the best schools, but the rules are too strict, especially in sixth form. Other colleges let students leave when their lessons are done, but here, you’re forced to stay all day for no reason. Mr. Dannie, the head of year, is extremely strict and makes things even more difficult. Academically, the school is decent, but the lack of freedom and unnecessary rules make the experience frustrating. If you want independence, this isn’t the place.

Please, if you value your kids education mental health and wellbeing do not send them here. Not only have I personally been in this school for my own education I have many others who have also. None of the experiences are positive, this school is difficult when it comes to them taking any sort of responsibility. Bullying, mental health and even learning disabilities is the last thing they care about on their lists. Trust me, find another school.

The 6th form is way too restrictive. In other 6th forms students are able to go home as soon as they're done their lessons but in st gregorys you have to stay until the day is over which is quite unnecessary to me. Academically this school isn't bad by any means but the fact that this school's called a 6th form college and you barely have any freedom is weird to me.

The rules are out of date. Girls should be allowed to wear trousers like the boys in the winter, they should be allowed hair down like the teachers. And the boys should be allowed any haircut and shorts in the summer. The boys should also be allowed earrings like the girls.

Academically a great school but as another reviewer states very outdated with policy on hair cuts and uniform. Boys and girls not treated equally - different policies for boys and girls. Girls not allowed to wear trousers and boys must keep hair short. A Catholic School where you can't have a haircut that looks like Jesus. Laughable!!
