I cannot recommend Cannons Law highly enough. I initially chose the firm because it was close to home, but working with Pauline has been nothing short of incredible. She is extremely knowledgeable and guided me every step of the way, explaining ACAS procedures, dealing with my previous employer and their solicitors, and helping me navigate the tribunal process, all things I had no experience with. What sets Pauline apart is that she genuinely fights for her clients. She made me feel supported, empowered, and heard in a situation where so many people don’t have a voice. Her professionalism, expertise, and compassion are second to none. I would have been lost without her support over the past year. If you want someone who truly knows their field and cares about their clients, Pauline at Cannons Law is exactly who you need on your side.

Do not contact this firm if you have a disability and are distressed over your situation. I became tearful on phone and stated how badly the situation I was actually contacting them for representation on was impacting my mental health. I was chastised for this as it "is not something a solicitor should deal with". No, but telling potential representation that the situation is impacting your disability severely is. Providing context to a situation is something you are made aware of, but maybe its just because I'm mentally ill that I was under the illusion you are fully transparent with a lawyer. Despite saying repeatedly I do not have a good signal and have developed agoraphobia through my PTSD, I was asked if I could "go outside" whilst clearly crying. I would like to be able to go outside, yes - I can't, that's the point. I was "shouting" when I was having to speak louder and more clearly due to having a bad signal. There were inferences made repeatedly to my 'mood' where I was accused of being a threat to myself because of a situation the woman I spoke to arrived at herself. Telling someone the impact a problem is having on you psychologically and becoming distressed over this is not the same thing as being in an acute crisis. I was cut off repeatedly whilst speaking. I was told that "we all had to do it" re moving in the middle of a housing crisis. The woman I spoke to was clearly irritated at the start when all I did was point out that the person who answered my call originally misheard my name and corrected her. She then addressed me by the wrong name anyway. Again, I'd have let it slide given that my signal is bad. But you don't need to patronise, mock and belittle a person. Signal or not, whoever I spoke to has no idea how to speak to people. There are plenty of conditions where the person struggles to express themselves. Autism is another example. It isn't appropriate to speak to someone the way I was spoken to effectively from the start. Clarifying what my actual first name is isn't because I took offence - like I said, my signal is bad. I have been misheard as Lauren, Laura, Fiona and Donna since I was a child due to my dialect. People are going to give you a lot of filler that is not actually legally relevant because they are explaining a situation. You don't need to cut them off repeatedly over how its "irrelevant" to the point you are becoming argumentative. I am contacting you to represent me, I am not your opponent. People cry when they are talking about an issue because it may be the first time they are actually talking about it to get help. Crying because someone is finally saying out loud the problem they are dealing with isn't the same thing as a person needing to "go call their GP". Its just crying. I'm not sure what solicitor hasn't sat across from a person who bursts into tears over their situation, but maybe AI has started filtering out specialist jobs and I've been on the phone with ChatGPT. You'd be frustrated and tearful too if you had spent part of your day going around multiple firms, repeating yourself with a terrible signal, who have all closed doors to your issue because it is usually legal aid clients. Even though you can pay as a private client, everyone suffers. I don't doubt they are good at law given their reviews, but one of their solicitors is sorely lacking in compassion and understanding of dealing with distressed clients. My area of work is ironically in mental health services ordinarily. I am used to seeing people be patronised and treated differently upon disclosure of a mental health issue. I have no doubts that I will be blamed by the firm, as it is quite easy to do with someone with a MHI. There are plenty of people who perform phenomenally well at law in an academic sense but do not realise that they are dealing with human beings with the full complexity and nuance of human emotion. Whoever I spoke to falls into that camp. I would suggest that if I "need to speak to someone" then the woman I spoke to also needs to work on her EQ with a third party.

Prior to the time when Hazel took us on, we had quite a nasty predicament with the house purchase. Hazel calmed us down, took the case on and, despite some severe pressures, she delivered the completion at the exact date. Much appreciated!
