   Caterham Prep School has been historically run as a separate entity to the main Caterham School, so it's important to distinguish between the two schools. Do not get carried away by the senior school facilities that are not generally available to the pre-prep and prep schools. Despite being in an impressive valley setting, the prep school has limited space, no dedicated sports hall or swimming facilities. Also because historically there was a straight path from the prep school into the senior school, the teaching was of a poor standard, due to a lack of accountability. Things are changing now with the appointment of a new head, but it will take many years to turn this school around. There are better schools in the area that offer better value - Hawthorns, Hazlewood, Oakhyrst.
