   Emma Newman and the team comprising Niamh and Gemma helped me successfully conclude a lengthy divorce process. I felt the team was always pushing for my best interests while balancing a practical and achievable outcome. Niamh and Gemma were easy and pleasant to work with and always worked empathetically and in a down to Earth manner. Legal advice is always expensive and I’d give 5 stars if the rates were lower ;-) but overall I was very happy with the outcome.

   I can only talk from 1 experience of a divorce, but I would not recommend Stowe. However I have nothing to compare them to. What I found was the following: they added in unnecessary steps which, when challenged, they said could be removed (why add them in then?). There were incidences of unnecessary emails, despite my requests due to the cost e.g. I asked to sign a copy then for it to go to my Ex, but they actually did several further back and forth steps with the other solicitors, asking them to provide a clean copy instead of us just sending it. They chased things that did not yet need chasing, and when I was waiting for a document, didn’t tell me they had had it for weeks. At one point they suggested I move to someone else who was cheaper in billable hours – which I did. Why they had not suggested earlier I do not know, I didn’t realise there was a choice having never hired a solicitor before. They also accidentally emailed Me instead of an internal colleague saying I was “moaning” – so professional….. So overall I felt they were over priced, went over budget, for a not great experience or service, and created extra steps and cost at every turn.

I had several conversations with their customer support team to understand what my next steps might be to resolve the issue and decided to engage with them to support me. From the initial meeting, through correspondence and to final resolution of the issue, Stowe (Harriet Donovan and her team) acted professionally and sensibly, always providing excellent advice and help. I would strongly recommend Stowe Family Law.

   I have been really pleased with and grateful for the support Niamh and the team at Stowe Family Law provided to me at this difficult time in my life. With a top firm like Stowe I expected a high level of expertise and professionalism and was not disappointed. What struck me over and above this was the pragmatism and sensitivity shown in getting to a good outcome. I always had confidence that Niamh was on top of things and up to speed with my case, and my perception was that she struck a good balance between fighting my corner aggressively and managing my expectations with a calm, measured and realistic approach and style.
