Small lighthouse at the entrance to Newhaven Harbour on the Firth of Forth. Made from cast iron and finished in 1878, it was decommissioned in 1942. There is no entry for visitors, but Forth Ports have relit it with coloured lights, which makes for a pleasant spectacle.

The area offers some truly lovely views, especially if you take the time to walk along the seafront. It’s a gentle, enjoyable walk with plenty to look at, and one of the real highlights is the chance to see the iconic Forth Bridge in the distance. Even though parts of it may be slightly covered from certain angles, you can still appreciate its impressive structure as it stretches across the water. On a clear day, the views are even better, with the light reflecting beautifully off the water and the bridge standing out as one of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks. The walk itself is peaceful and relaxing, ideal for anyone who enjoys a bit of fresh air and scenery. Whether you’re out for a casual stroll, taking photos, or just soaking in the surroundings, it’s a route that feels rewarding without being difficult. There are plenty of spots to pause and enjoy the view, and the general atmosphere along the front is calm and inviting. Overall, it’s a great walk and well worth doing if you’re in the area. The combination of coastal views, fresh sea air, and the chance to glimpse the Forth Bridge makes it a simple but memorable experience.

Beautiful lighthouse with a nice seawall walk. A few shops and restaurants by the sea too. Catch more of my photography at @marius_evans on Instagram.

This is a very smart harbour lighthouse. It was a windy day the day I visited Newhaven. There is a nice circular walk you can follow at Newhaven Harbour. The lighthouse is well maintained and is still lit up at night I believe. It will guide many vessels into the safety of the harbour. Well worth coming to see it.

Beautiful lighthouse. It’s always lovely to walk around. The pink base of the lighthouse makes it special and very photogenic. I don’t think you can get in, but if that was an option, I’d definitely go.

One of the most picturesque Lighthouses in Edinburgh. A great place for a walk by the seaside. Lochfyne, Fish Market, Porto & Fi and Rishi's are recommended restaurants to try and are next to this harbour. Sunset with red sky is breathtaking to watch! Best time to spend is to come in the afternoon, enjoy a lunch or an afternoon tea/snacks from one of the nearby restaurants (fish and chips of Fish Market is the best in Scotland), walk along the waterfront promenade and come back to the lighthouse nearing sunset. The view is absolutely mindblowing! Parking is available outside Fish Mongers.
