   To back up the 1 star review, here's what happened (or rather did not happen) in almost 2 months. Service from the solicitors was conveyancing for an investment property with foreign owners. Nalinda said that he needed to check where the money is coming from and he'd let us know if he accepts the client (my cousin). We would have paid the extra £500 for the additional checks as this is a foreign investor. This was mid-August. Sent all the paperwork, estate agent sent the Sales memorandum. First week of September emailed Nalinda and asked for an update, he never replied to my email, so managed to call him. He asked for a few days to look at the paperwork. 10 days later the estate agent was chasing the matter, so called in again, Nalinda sent an email to them and told me that he "gained some time" and leave it with him. End of September called him again, he still hasn't looked at the paperwork. Called back on the 5th October, he said he needed the evening to read through everything and will call me the following day. I tried calling him on the 6th and 7th, no answer. At the end looked for another solicitor and emailed Nalinda that we don't' require his service. In the whole process he only sent a couple of emails at the beginning and then ignored all my and the estate agent's emails. Never called back when he promised and was very hard to get hold of on the phone.

   I was selling a property entirely chain-free and the buyer’s solicitor was Colvin and Partners. They raised numerous queries (requiring substantial work) the week the buyer had asked me to exchange and I’d moved out, incurring huge ongoing costs for myself. Some of the queries raised the week in question (almost 3 months post accepting the buyer’s offer and my solicitor having engaged with Colvin and Partners) included “can you confirm the garage is included in the sale?” (What this firm had been doing until this point I do not know…). Response times after documentation and replies to queries were sent to them surpassed 3 weeks frequently, and their approach to raising queries was linear in nature which I found baffling and incredibly frustrating. After 6 painful months of trying to complete the sale, the buyer has pulled out. If only this solicitor didn’t take 3 months to raise those aforementioned queries, I don’t believe I’d be in this position. I will never deal with another buyer who uses this firm, and will advise friends and colleagues of the same.

He was very friendly, professional and thorough with his work. They price very competitively. I would highly recommend using Colvin & Partners for conveyancing or commercial leasing.
