We went on a day that the site was closed Monday and Tuesday closed all day not shop cafe open it was quiet and still a coach arrived with others Unfortunately due to weather we had to come on this day as we knew it was going to be dry Must say this is amazing the wheel is amazing too the engineering gone into it it's hard to believe someone designed this and it works well to help barges travel onto other canal links and waterways It was a shame that everything was closed as we would have like to take the trip in boat on the wheel and back again We would return if we were passing for sure there is plenty of things for kids to do a playground and also water games they can do and see how canals work Enjoy if you can go see this

Nice day out, Cafe is good and if you manage to hit it when it’s nice even better! You will be taken down the canal in a bespoke boat… You will be taken up so if you’re not sure of hight might be one to miss and do half a turn. The views are lovely and the tour guides on the boat are also very informative

Absolutely fantastic place to visit! The Falkirk Wheel is an incredible piece of engineering and a great day out for families. The boat trip experience is really enjoyable and gives you a close look at how the wheel works β€” very smooth and fascinating to watch in action. The cafΓ© on site is lovely, with friendly and welcoming staff who make you feel right at home. The food and coffee were great, and it’s a nice spot to relax while enjoying the view. There’s also a souvenir shop with plenty of unique gifts and Scottish items at reasonable prices. Parking is very spacious, with giant car parks that make visiting really easy, even on busy days. Overall, it’s a well-maintained, clean, and family-friendly attraction β€” definitely worth a visit if you’re in Scotland!

We visited The Falkirk Wheel today with the whole family, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The engineering of the Wheel itself is simply fascinating, seeing the boats being lifted was a real β€œwow” moment for all of us. We even tried the Wheel ride ourselves, and it was absolutely unforgettable! Gliding smoothly up and down while taking in the stunning views is something we’ll always remember. What made the day even better was how much there was for the kids to enjoy. The play areas and games kept them entertained for hours, and they loved every moment. It’s not just an attraction for adults who enjoy history or engineering; it’s a genuinely fun and interactive place for children too. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole site was clean and well-maintained. We left with big smiles (and a few tired legs!), already talking about when we can come back. Highly recommended for families looking for a mix of learning, fun, and a little bit of magic.

Fantastic engineering, the world's first and only rotating boat lift. Seeing it in action was superb and going on it was even better! Great views from the top, you can even see The Kelpies! Commentary and information given whilst on the canal boat was really good and informative. Lovely walking trails along the canal. Plenty of things for children to do, including a lovely play park. Great cafe, gift shop and toilets. Would highly recommend a visit!

Had been really looking forward to seeing this wheel in action & it didn't disappoint. A great engineering marvel. Can take a boat ride & experience the wheel in action. It's situated in a very nice area with a lovely walk around the area with plenty of seating to take in the views. A lovely gift shop & cafe. Can walk along the canal a few miles to reach the Kelpies.

This was brilliant, much better than expected, loads of good clear info and beautiful views! There’s a pathway that you can walk under the tunnel once you’re finished on the boat too. Plenty to keep the kids amused and the adults. Nice little cafe and gift shop, and for those with a sweet tooth, an ice cream stand too! They run 2 boats, perfect for wet weather too as the boats are covered. Highly recommended and lovely walks nearby along the canal paths.

Amazing! The technology and engineering that have gone into this design are awesome. Didn’t have time to book the boat tour, but did get to watch the wheel in operation. The whole process takes about 15-20 minutes. Just incredible to watch. The area has loads of parking. The complex is spotless with a lovely curio and coffee shop. There is loads of information on the history and design. Was one of the highlights of our trip. Would love to do the canal trip next time.

What a place... An amazing feat of engineering and has to be seen really. Lots of parking, you pay on the way out and lots of information in a very beautiful glass building We were passing through so didn't book the boat trip, but loved watching the whole process. We did eat in the restaurant, well coffee and cake and it was delicious, in fact all the food looked lovely. Everything is in the one building, which is great and it's been build with this glass sloping roof so that when you sit inside you can see the wheel at work. I also walked to the top to see the boat come out onto the top canal, it was fab, loved our visit here quite amazing piece of canal history
