Please just don't. Me and my partner went on our honeymoon, she booked it and added me on as a named driver. Some damage to the car, but luckily I purchased excess cover...... Oh but wait.... it doesn't cover named drivers.... a prime example of them adding stupid things to the policy to get out of ever actually paying something. Iv'e driven in 5 countries on this insurance, luckily never having a claim and only now do I find this out. There are plenty of better options out there that actually cover you. My signature was on the rental agreement but this accounts for nothing. Sour taste in my mouth and will never use them again. STAY CLEAR and please do your research.

Β£2000 damage caused by a freak hailstorm in Sicily. I was reimbursed in full within 2 weeks of submitting my claim. I would advise keeping extensive records of your car hire agreement, excess liability and damage. Photo of damage with registration plate visible is also a requisite when filing a claim.

I've been with icarhireinsurance for 6 years now and had to make two claims during that time The first one was a small claim, and I received the payment about a week after submitting it. The second one was just a few days ago, and it was a much bigger claim (someone smashed the doors of my rental car). I was really stressed about how it would go. But once again, I've received full compensation. They didn't even ask me any questions, just processed the documentation I provided and a few days later paid me back. This is an insurance that really works. Honestly, it almost feels unfair that I pay so little (around Β£40/year) and have received so much more back in my claims.

Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing a simple car hire excess insurance policy! It's interesting to note that to take out a policy all they really require is your credit card details, but when it comes to making the simplist and small claim, they require reams of infirmation and just keep stalling. Will never use them again.

It is 42 days since I started a claim with this company (who outsource the insurance to another company registered in Poland). No reply for the last 2 weeks. My accident involved no other car, and no injury - the most simple that could be dealt with.

Awful claims service, poor response, inconsistent decisions and when asked about a complaints process and policy they advised, we donβt have one. Make sure they will cover you before buying, had one claim accepted after a complaint now claimed again, using the same company to rent and they advise we no longer support that rental company. Maybe so but how do you no that if they donβt tell you. My advice stay away, much more reputable companies out there.

10% increase in premium even though no claims were made . I told them I found a company on line offering same cover at much less premium so I did not renew. They simply emailed and said"we do not price match"

I made a claim over 7 weeks ago, and although i had provided all documents and the total amount to be refunded was quite low (less than Β£200) I have had no further communication from them since. I also have called their customer service (at Zurich) and the only thing they can say is that it's not their responsibility! that is scandalous! Now I will have to pay for the extra insurance when hiring a car anyway after having paid them more than Β£120 for a global insurance. I agree with another review: they are a scam company and they take your cash and then when you need to claim they just wear you down with silence. Avoid them!

My wife made a claim over 6 weeks ago, and despite providing all documents requested we have had no further communication from them since. Have contacted the complaints team and they try and say it's not their responsibility. I have recently hired another car and paid for the extra insurance rather than risk having to claim again through iCar. In my opinion it is effectively a scam company, they take your cash and then when you need to claim they just wear you down with silence.

I had a 1 claim of approximately 200 USD β locked keys inside car. It is worth mentioning that they are just agent selling product of different insurance companies β i had Zurich insurance. Although it took some time, and they requested several nonsense documentation (like invoice with precise location and car model from locksmith that opened my car), clearly designed to put of some people, after several emails i was able to successfully get claim. It took around 6 weeks in total of which 3 weeks from point when they promised to credit to my account. I will use them again
