   Cover sold easily. Claim later reduced to almost nothing using unclear calculations. Poor transparency and communication. Escalating to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

   Misleading and unfair claims handling. A claim well within the stated cover was drastically reduced using a “proportional reduction” calculation that was never clearly explained despite repeated written requests. Based on this experience, I am formally reporting this matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. I have since seen multiple other customers describe the same issue. Extreme caution advised.

   I don’t usually write reviews but feel I have no option but to do so as the service from this company has been absolutely abysmal. I had to deal with them via Safestore as the insurance company, and the contract is just terrible. After waiting for MONTHS of not being able to take my things home, they’ve offered to refund me £60, instead of the £250 I very legitimately claimed. If I’d known I would’ve stopped myself from constantly having chase emails, and just at least taken the remaining of my things home. Which I know can’t do until after the holidays because I’m travelling. An absolute JOKE.

   They have very poor customer service and are unprofessional in the way they handle claims. They willingly take your premium upfront without any question or evidence to back up your shipment’s declared value. However, when it comes to paying out for a claim, they will do everything possible to not pay the declared value and request receipts for all items, many of which no reasonable person would keep. This led to me receiving a small settlement that did not reflect the value of my goods. They add to the poor reputation of removal companies and insurers alike.

   Professionalism beyond expectation! Ive been with BASIL FRY & Company since the start of the business in 2014 and Mark Davies who is my account manager has always been extremely helpful with organising documentation or required covers , instructing what could be the best option and always finds the best and competitive prices. In additional Mark and his team have always been giving me the best assistance on a daily basis and advice on the business requirements alternatively, if there were not in position to give the instruction they advised me who is the best person / team to speak to in order to get the business run smoothly or to resolve legal issues.    The level of service from Basil Fry & Company has been exceptional. Frazer Clark is our Account Manager, looking after our motor insurance policies and Goods In Transit insurance policies, as well as a number of other business insurance policies we have. Frazer has always been exceptionally proactive from my very first dealings with him. He always calls/emails when he says he will and he negotiates well with our insurer to ensure we have the best possible insurance cover at the best possible price.
