Staff very nice and helpful. Always good to shop in. I go in to spend few pounds but £40 or £50 later that's me.

Amazing, staff are lovely, easy stop when needed. Especially for me as I'm type 1 diabetic and sometimes I will need lucozade, and it's there! Quick and easy in my books

It's a very large store, with lots and lots of decent bargains. They actually do gents deodorant for 50p, you can't beat it and it's very refreshing. They also sell copies of a couple of designer fragrances for a £1. Not bad if your on a budget or over this pandemic crisis. X

I love Poundland. Obviously some stores are better than others, but as a general rule it's a great place to find bargains. Yes, there is some tat sold in most Poundland stores that isn't even worth £1, but the vast majority of stock is of decent or great quality and I regularly see items in the stores that make me wonder how the company is making any kind of profit as said items would surely be £10 or more in other shops. This particular store is good, but far from perfect. It's a relatively large shop with a vast and varied range of stock, few empty spaces on the shelves and service is normally pretty quick. However, there are some issues with this particular store. First, the layout. The entrance is designed so that even if you only want something from around the till area or the third aisle, you have to start in the first aisle and walk around most of the shop to pay. I understand the philosophy behind it - forcing the customer to circumvent the whole store increases the odds that they will leave with something more than the one or two items they might have come in for, but for those in a hurry, or whose feet are already hurting from going around the other shops in the retail park, it can be frustrating. There are also no signs in the aisles to aid customers in their quest to find what they need and certain aspects of the stock layout are entirely illogical with soft toys in the same aisle as garden ornaments and stationary almost directly adjacent to shampoo and soap. While regular patrons may be accustomed to this bizarre layout, it makes it difficult for the occasional visitor to find what they need and several times I've left without finding/buying the one thing I came in for. As for the staff...some are fantastic. There are a couple, in particular, who always seem eager to help and provide service with a smile. However, they are vastly outnumbered by the dead-eyed drones who really don't care about the shop, customer service or anything else beyond their paycheck. I understand. Having worked in retail myself I have a lot of sympathy for them. It can be a soul-destroying experience working a job for which you have no passion, but for the sake of customers and the business it is necessary to fake some degree of...well, life. Two recent examples of what I mean. The time before last my wife and I visited the shop to buy some of the Disney themed canvass bags hanging behind the tills. My wife is an avid Disney fan and hopes to collect all the different bags for reasons I can't begin to fathom, but it makes her happy so I don't question it. Seeing three bags she didn't already have, she asked the lady behind the counter to get them from the hooks situated behind the tills and beyond the reach of customers. She got the bags, but only after rolling her eyes and sighing loudly. On our last visit we were in the queue and saw an older man loitering near the tills. He decided he wanted to sit and used the metal shelf by an empty checkout, the shelf on which customers typically sit their baskets, as a bench. The shelf buckled, bent and became detached on one side. Realising none of the staff had seen, he got up and walked away. I mentioned it to the person who served us, a young man who didn't even acknowledge our existence after calling us forward to be served, and his response was a shrug. As I've said above, I used to work in retail - it was how I paid my way through University - and there are places I worked that I absolutely hated, but if a customer had come to be and reported that another patron had caused damage to something in the store I would have contacted a manager or supervisor right away. I doubt any of the managers I worked for would have taken action to make the customer pay for the damage or put up a sign stating that the metal shelves should not be used as benches, but they would, at the very least, have made note of the damage so it could be repaired. Overall, a good shop, but not the best Poundland store in Scotland.

Otto Fumbler ★★★☆☆
Compared with other bargain stores, Poundland used to be the best in my humble opinion. However, they've lost their way in recent in times. DIY and automotive items are pretty scarce now. I quite like some of the 'more than a pound' items, but I'm worried they are giving up shelf space at the expense of the budget items that first drew me in here years ago. The fall in the value of Sterling might cover some of the reasons, but they need to use their purchasing powers to get back in there and grab more deals. More tools, fixings, and car products would keep the punters happy... at least, the ones like me.
