Amazing building with lovely volunteers to help you find your way around if you're not certain where you are going, as it's such a vast structure.

Not impressed with the service I have received so far basically i am waiting for ankle fusion surgery it has been months I have had a xray and ctc scan so far and I have mentioned to my consultant that I have dyspraxia and feel pain easily so basically I have low pain tolerance and I am anxious because of another condition I have underactive thyroid so I had a appointment for a injection of anesthetic and steroid injection and basically if any of the steroid injection gets into my blood system it could cause issues with my thyroid levels, so called in the morning for reassurance and instead of doing this they cancelled my appointment not very impressed with this situation, and so had to see my consultant again months later, and then again I mentioned my dyspraxia and pain threshold but he did not seem to listen and understand me not so I was given a appointment on the 19th of may 2025 ,I turned up and went into one of the rooms in park view theatres southmead they tried to do a blood pressure test and of course it really hurt so the nurse had to stop and a while later they took me to try and put the anesthetic into my ankle and as I have low pain tolerance because of my dyspraxia I just could not cope with the pain so they had to stop, I could of predicted it plus I have a weakened immune system and they did not wear masks and my consultant knew about this so basically they have no idea what to do next

I visited the Southmead A&E on Bank Holiday Saturday and was thrilled by the swift care and attention I received. From the man on reception, polite and understanding, to the nurse taking more details and giving me pain killers, to Dr Karuninyan Vipulendran's careful examination and request for x-rays to the speedy radiologist who took 3 pictures with great attention all most impressive and a tribute to an excellent department. The outcome a leg brace and crutches with a Discharge Summary printed and ready for my collection in just under one hour. Amazing and well done to the whole team.

Nurse/assistant response time is horrible. Food services are inconsistent. PT/OT therapists are awesome! When nurse/ assistant finally gets to you they are great.

Recieved very good care when I cut part of my thumb off with a Stanley knife. I was seen, treated and home within 2 hours. A follow up appointment was made the following day in Plastic Trauma Dept and after an xray, I was seen bang on my appt time and once again treated and home within a couple of hours. Friendly, professional staff.

Thank God google has allowed me to post my review, since NHS declined. Almost 18 months ago I visited the neurological clinic at Southmead hospital. They put a letter together for the gp with the prescribed medications to try over the course of time. The meds were prescribed without really reviewing any major side effects. Even at the pharmacy they were questioning me - are you sure you want to take this drug? It's just unbelievable - how can I reply such a question? I start with a given health issue and I end up with 2 more through the course of time which I have to manage for the rest of my life. Well done! On the other hand the department is so busy that I've been trying to schedule a follow-up, but it's so difficult. So if someone has a disease that needs specialist attention you would be seen once in 2 yrs and you would be prescribed some meds on an experimental basis.

Knowing that Southmead Hospital North Bristol NHS is withholding vital infomation about my mothers death, never knowing the full details of how she was mistreated, and knowing her records will be shared with other organisations potentially for profit without my permission, but not shared with her family has made my health including my generalized dystonia physical symptoms worse. I feel the NHS North Bristol are mistreaing her in death as they did while she was alive. I hope this disgusting behaviour inevitably comes to an end.

Once I received my NHS COVID vaccination confirmation via text complete with address, I googled the exact location and closest car park and as I'm pretty familiar with the site, it wasn't hard to work out where I needed to get to. I'm glad I did because once we entered the main entrance to the site, there was no direction at all and Southmead Hospital is a big ol bird (in our immediate locality, vaccination centres are signposted everywhere on big yellow signs.) Even when you get to the building (Learning and Research), there's no indication you're in the right place. Better direction to the correct location is my only constructive criticism. Once inside, the staff were very welcoming and the process for checking in, paperwork, jab, waiting and booking next one was easy and clear provision for infection control was made and accessible. Keep up the good work.
