Hubby and I had the carvery today, it was absolutely delicious and at a very reasonable price. What grabbed me most (apart from the food) was our waiter Jack. What a lovely guy, pleasant, polite, cheeky funny, an all round absolute delight. Service can make or break a restaurant in my mind, and Jack really makes for a top experience. We will be returning!

Had carvery 1pm Sunday 16 November. Waiter who showed us to table was highly efficient polite and explained in detail how carvery system works. We were a table of 6 adults, parents who are in there 90s were able to order small plates. Chef was extremely pleasant friendly. Generous portions of meat compared to other carvery food we had recently. The quality of meat was outstanding, well cooked and well presented. The vegetables were fresh and hot and great selection, cauliflower cheese, cabbage, peas, carrots , mash, great roast potatoes and parsnips even brussel sprouts!!. Meat and veg were replenished as we were leaving about 2.15pm If we lived local we would eat a Sunday carvery regularly.

We ate here whilst staying up the road for a friends wedding. Nice old school pub with a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is separate to the bar. The staff take you to the table and explain the QR code App system, which is the norm now days but very easy to use. We had a mixed grill, curry and Hunters chicken. All the food was excellent , hot and decent portions. Very reasonable prices too! We were pleasantly surprised! Highly recommend

Tucked away on a lively street, this pub hit all the right notes—great ales, warm atmosphere, and a pun that stole the show: “Ale’s Well That Ends Well.” From the moment I walked in, the cheeky humor set the tone for a relaxed, fun evening. Staff were welcoming, the crowd was buzzing, and every pint felt like part of the punchline. A brilliant blend of wit and warmth—I’ll definitely be coming back for another laugh and lager.

This place has just started doing breakfast again. Excellent breakfast for £4.99. Hot and tasty, eggs cooked fresh to order. The mini hash browns are very moorish. I would suggest a trip here. Open every day from 8 till 11.30. Do yourself a favour and try it out......

Four of us had a meal last night. We had a lovely welcome with our three dogs. The seating was extremely comfortable and everywhere was very clean. Everyone of our meals was excellent from the sirloin steak to the vegetarian pie. The barman and young man waiting on the tables were very friendly. We will certainly be returning and recommend The George.
