Second time I'm staying at Green Park House and the value for money is unbeatable. Just check hotel rates in Bath and you'll understand what I mean. Might not offer a restaurant or a TV in the room but it's clean and very central and for prices less than half from anything else you might find in the area I'd stay again and again!
Lovely clean accommodation. Good city location. Staff are very welcoming. We have a large self catering room with a view of Green Park.
Small but comfortable rooms. Close to everything that one would need: the city center, the park, several restaurants, bus line. Shared kitchen with all necessary utensils. Minor inconvenience: the room was very hot in July; sleeping with the window open was not an option due to the noise outside.
If this is your accom for Bath Uni ask for a change to campus. 1. heating only stays on for like 10 minutes and turns off when it hits 18 Degrees. It is so cold over winter and does not turn back on until the room temperature is significantly lower. however over summer it is BOILING - bring a fan with you for the may/june period p.s - unfortunately people do not take out their trash properly so there are loads of rubbish around the bin area and the green - seagulls and rats are common sights 2. buses are EXTREMELY unreliable and takes about 25 minutes to go to campus - I’ve missed so many extracurriculars because buses were either late or did not show. Especially if you want to do a sport regularly in first year ask for campus accommodation. 3. walls are very thin. if you’re facing the main road youre up every day at 6am to sounds of traffic and if you’re facing the brew house garden you wont sleep until 2am due to the noise. most students will also be extremely inconsiderate and shout until 3-4am in the morning (this happened every night during exam season this year) 4. fire alarms. one night it went of 16 consecutive times from 3.30am to 4.10am. it is so loud in rooms. 5. (arguably the worst for me this year) there are silverfish EVERYWHERE and the repellents reslife use do not work (they also told me to get over it and theyre just harmless bugs - but you’re paying £8k + and its your right to not live w bugs in a room the size of a shoe box) - I recommend taping over cracks its worked wonders for me (i’d get 3-4 in my room daily at the start) Honestly I picked this to have my own toilet but genuinely would rather have a shared toilet on campus, especially for first year where grades dont matter and if you really want to join sports teams.
I stayed in Green Park for my first year at uni of so I thought I'd write this to help out any future students who get put here and want to know what it's like. It was my last choice of accomodation by preference and I was disappointed that I was in the city at first, BUT it turned out to be a really good place to live. Pros: - The LOCATION! It's so well situated for going into town, you have access to so many shops, pubs, clubs and literally all of the city centre is within walking distance. It is also right across the road from a nice park and more importantly a big Sainsbury's, which was so convenient. - Buses are a big deal at bath uni and living at green park is the best you can get. The bus stop is right at the front of the building, no walking needed. And the green park stop is the FIRST STOP on the U1 route, so you don't face the same issue that people getting on other stops have of not being able to get on because it's full. Bus times are still annoying but generally about every 15 -30 minutes. - The Flats have living room areas which are absolutely great for pres and socializing. comfy sofas and a big shared space. - 24/7 friendly security desk in the building (sorry useful for when you inevitably lock yourself out of your room). it's also fairly easy to report any maintenance issues this way - Don't have to leave the building to collect any post as all post for city accommodations get delivered here - 24/7 access to the common room which is extremely useful during exam season as it is a good study area. - The rooms are nice. Objectively much nicer than a lot of other accommodations. Most rooms have double beds and are ensuite with a proper shower rather than a wetroom. Cons: - not being on campus does mean you have to buy the £399 bus pass which honestly sucks. You also have to wake up earlier to make it to lectures on time. The bus takes 15 mins on a quiet day and 30 minutes if it stops at every stop. This is definitely the biggest drawback. - The mattress is super hard. It took a while to get used to. - Annoying loud seagulls will keep you up all night - sometimes the area sinks of weed - The fire alarm is insanely annoying and goes off in the morning sometimes for like 5 seconds. it's a jumpscare every time. - some flats have issues with silverfish. - in summer some of the rooms get REALLY WARM
Aggressive security who interrogate and bully people in the building whether they are violating any rules or not, kitchen was filthy upon moving in, beds are uncomfortable and even with a mattress topper have painfully noticeable springs sticking out, desks are a good size but floor space is very limited and security do not notify us when they have our packages nor follow up on issues (eg losing power to all outlets in my room for two days during online lectures and having nothing done about it until I enquired again). I chose Green Park House after reading reviews about friendly security who make the occupants feel safe-- however the reality is anything but. I would advise anyone considering this accommodation to look elsewhere:)
Very well situated in the centre of Bath. Near everywhere, though apartments could be a little cleaner and have a better equipped kitchen. Not intented for cooking, no space to eat if more than 1. They are clearly student's rooms to sleep, study and have breakfast or a light snack. Good price for Bath city centre!
Great location! Only 5 minutes walk from the centre and there's a Sainsburys or a Tesco close by for snacks. Hotel room lovely and clean, even provides a toaster! No TV but that didn't bother me as I took my laptop. Only issue I had was with the bed. The mattress is waterproof so the outer I'd a weird, plasticy material that was very uncomfortable to sleep on, even with the mattress sheet over the top. I ended up sleeping between the two halves on my duvet; good thing I came alone! Slept well nonetheless. Would definitely use this accommodation again.
No A/C, very warm, the window opens only a few cm (safety lock) and next to a busy street, so you have to choose a reason not to sleep: too warm or too noisy. People probably choose to keep it warm, that's why the pillows smell like sweat. You can hear the person upstairs moving around, so you don't need an alarm to wake up. Otherwise, very clean, friendly staff and well located.
Pretty clean and large guest room, equipped with cooking utilities. Not far away from the city center, around 10 minutes' walk. Later, found out that this place is originally meant for student accomodation. It has a pretty informal reception style, while reception service is 24/7. After check-out, the guest may store their luggage at the premise for a certain duration for free, which is a great plus for tourists.
