I was apprehensive after reading the reviews but my experience today was really positive, Dr Menedez was really informative, compassionate and friendly and made me feel at ease. He listened to me and i left the appointment feeling reassured. The receptionist was very friendly, everything was clean and I was seen around 5 minutes after my appointment time.

I wanted to share my experience to balance out the many negative reviews and reassure prospective patients. Before my procedure today, I read the reviews and felt very anxious, especially as my appointment was with one of the male consultants who has been mentioned in many of the negative reviews. However, my experience was positive. I had a hysteroscopy with MyoSure polyp removal under local anaesthetic. The nurses were lovely and even offered to hold my hands. The consultant was understanding, encouraged me to relax, and answered my questions afterward. The receptionist was also kind. The procedure was uncomfortable and at times a bit painful (similar to a smear test and strong period cramps) but it was quick, which made it bearable. It was really not that bad and if given the option between LA and GA, I would have chosen to do it under LA again. My only suggestion is to improve privacy in the reception area. Sitting with my male partner, I felt a bit conscious when other patients were being given pregnancy tests. No one seemed uncomfortable, but more privacy would help. However, I understand that the space is small and this is not staff's fault. I was also given a satisfaction survey afterward, which shows they’re working to improve patient experience.

I have used this gynaecology service (on the upper floor) for five years now, and I truly wish I had found them decades ago. The female doctors, clinical staff and receptionist are all extremely friendly, skilled, patient and caring. I have found my appointments to be well organised and on time. I see there are some poor reviews on here but my experiences have been a huge relief after many years of less skilled doctors, which left me in pain and emotionally shattered. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else now. The location is wheelchair accessible with automatic doors, with an accessible toilet and they allow you to book a double appointment to accommodate your needs. There is visitor parking at the rear, although the surface is gravel. Thank you to the staff for your great customer service.

I’ve had some bad coil replacement/gyno experiences in the past at other places, which left me with panic attacks, so I was very nervous after reading the reviews here. But the gyno and assistant were absolutely lovely, they explained everything, went through each step with me, took their time, and really listened. I honestly don’t think I could have had a better experience.

Please ask to be referred somewhere else if your doctor suggests this place. On arriving for my appointment, the consultant did not want to see me as I had previously been operated on by a different consultant last year. I was told by a member of staff that I could sit and wait to see my original consultant but they could not guarantee what time as he had other people who had appointments! I explained I had an appointment to and they had booked me to see someone else. The consultant I had my appointment with half heartedly eventually agreed to see me. He was RUDE to say the least! Firstly he read my discharge out to me from my operation last year, when I told him the letter was wrong he started to raise his voice and shout at me - no bedside manner whatsoever! The letter stated that I had had both ovaries and tubes removed, this was not the case and when I tried to explain this to him, he just became irate and said I need to take it up with the other consultant. In fact, I only have one ovary(the other was removed 12 years ago) however my discharge letter said he hard removed both and both tubes. In fact when the consultant opened me up to operate, he said I had fibroids and not a cyst as originally thought and so in fact my one remaining ovary was not touched and the operation was a waste of time. At the time I was told a hysterectomy was my only option! After seeing a physio, I was referred back to this dreadful place, to be told today, fibroids do not cause any pain(believe me they do) my bladder problems were because I had children and there was nothing they could do. They then booked me in for 7 weeks time to see the original consultant. I left this place in tears. Totally unsympathetic, rude consultant! The only lady who was competent and understanding was the receptionist. I have been suffering for almost 3 years and each time I go back to this place am told something different. I will not be going back. Please DO NOT GO HERE!!! I have been left feeling like I will never get the medical help I need. I only gave 1 star as it would not let me post without!

I have been registered at London Colney since the beginning of this year (2022) and have always found the reception staff to be helpful on the telephone. They have always followed up efficiently with phone calls to myself, when I have had questions for the Gynecologist/Consultant. Every experience is different, however, mine has been positive so far, over the telephone and face to face.

Worst healthcare I’ve ever received. Doctors give no interest and don’t listen to what your saying, receptionist was incredibly rude and hung up on me, phone appointment was 2 hours late and then they accused me of missing my appointment because I had to teach a class when they finally rang. No understanding that people have jobs (or are living with pain). I would prefer to continue the rest of my life with this pain (and I probably will) then see them again as they are clueless and provide no help. If you are referred here asked to be referred!

The consultant I saw was unsympathetic and condescending. Despite assuring me that he knew about PCOS, he didn't fully appreciate the symptoms and causes, and the struggle it is to lose weight, nor was interested in finding this out from someone with firsthand experience (me). His 'compassionate' retort? "I know it can be hard to lose weight. I know that when I eat a doughnut I put on a pound and it takes me a few weeks to shift it". Yes, totally comparable with my experience of weight gain and loss. Not. Also, you don't get told when you are discharged. Apparently you have a year from when you were last in the clinic and then after that you have to be referred to them again from you GP (as never told this). Never mind that you may have been prescribed medication by the Consultant in the interim period when you ring up for your results and speak to the reception and there is a note from the Consultant to go on medication for 6 months - no, that doesn't count. Out of sight, out of mind. No follow up care on your fertility journey to see if you have been successful and can be discharged from the clinic. No wonder we're going private if this is the level of care you get by this clinic.

My clinician was friendly and professional. He explained things clearly and gave me time to ask questions and share more details and clarified follow up questions I had (I think we went over the allotted time window but he didn't rush it). He could've been better at listening and, at times, lacked empathy/was a bit patronising, but I was pleasantly surprised having read the other reviews here (I took my husband with me at the last moment having read the other reviews, but it would've been fine without him).
