   Our experience of this school was dreadful. The school has a bullying issue which it denys, therefore allowing the bullying to continue. Our child was told the bullying was not occurring, causing further distress. There are teachers there who were very good, however, the senior management team is unapproachable, lacks emotional intelligence, and empathy. Phones calls are consistently ignored, even when explaining you are desperate to speak to a senior manager. When eventually we were able to speak to a member of staff, the fact we were challenging their response to the bullying was not well received. This resulted in vindictiveness, appalling lies and a further closing of ranks from certain teachers and senior managers. I have never experienced such unprofessional, inappropriate behaviour of teachers before. There is certainly not a child centered approach at this school. The senior management team, including the Principal (who is very unapproachable) and The Special Educational Needs Department need to understand their poor interaction with students families around communication causes further distress. Teaching is not just about a child's accedemic achievements but also their holistic wellbeing. SBL'S main consideration seems to be to protect their position around OFSTED inspections. They deny any negative issues/ concerns raised, ignore anyone wishing to resolve something through communication, with the hope they will give up and go away. I can fully understand why this school was recently in Special Measures. We removed our child from this school, as he was so traumatised by his experience at SBL. He now attends another school and is slowly rebuilding his confidence and trust. The new school is excellent.

   I used to be a pupil here , it was a horrible school then and I see from these reviews it is STILL a horrible school . The bullying I endured from fellow pupils and certain staff , haunts me to this day . I would have sooner gargled on broken glass than send my 3 kids here . If I could have given it 0 stars I happily would have .

   The school policy on bullying is an absolute joke they do nothing about it nothing gets put in place if your child has any kind of behavior condition even after they say they can no communication with parents like I said at beginning the bullying is really bad at the school

   Class rooms in poor condition. Quality of teaching not as good as e.g Wellsway School.
