I recently completed what should have been a relatively straightforward property transaction (with no onward chain) but the process was prolonged for over six months and marred by repeated issues. Most concerning was receiving an updated invoice after I had already paid, due to charges being missed initially. This points to a lack of due diligence that was unfortunately consistent throughout. Our appointed solicitor, Heidi, was excellent — supportive, and clearly very capable. However, getting direct access to her was a persistent challenge, and our case was frequently passed between team members. At one point, delays nearly caused us to lose the flat altogether due to inaction on Wards' part. Even during the final signing at the office, the experience was disappointing: paperwork contained errors, and the staff member assisting us openly admitted to being "useless." What should have been a celebratory moment instead felt frustrating and poorly handled. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further with someone at Partner level to understand how these issues will be addressed for future clients.
