Really disappointed in my MoT service the other day. Car was failed on a tyre needing a top up of air because the air light was lit on the dash. Car was dropped off the night before at 8pm with no warning lights on dash. I’ve never ever used a garage for an MoT service, fail a car on something so basic without calling first to say something, giving the owner the chance to sort or ask to be sorted. I now have a failed notice on my car’s history that was totally unnecessary and to add insult was then charged £10 to have it topped up to pass it! I have sent/recommended so many friends family to this garage since my local guy retired but I won’t be back again. Really disappointing.
WOW! A business that shows integrity, honesty and professionalism does still exist. had a clutch problem that was diagnosed (by TMS) as the master cylinder needed replacing. OK got an estimate from Sharnford Garage which was considerably cheaper than TMS. Work was carried out and they gave me a courtesy car for the duration, fantastic. Collected the car and unfortunately two day later the clutch problem re-appeared, temporarily. I went back to Mark who in all honesty said that it was unusual but to keep any eye on it and let him know if it happens again. Two weeks went by without a problem. Then the clutch went completely! I phoned Mark, they collected my car from my home, again gave me a courtesy car. They then repaired the car which was a faulty seal elsewhere on the system. I collected my car and was astonished that there was nothing to pay! As I said it does show that integrity, honesty and professionalism is profound. Can't thank them enough and would thoroughly recommend!
Recommended by RAC as I broke down. Repair was done on my vehicle but not when they said it would be completed. Car was parked on a side street when I picked it up not on their property. Drove home to find a dent and paint damaged. Called the garage and returned to be told they hadn’t done it! It was not damaged there when my car left me but there on pick up! Even though garage staff very friendly I would never use this garage again nor would I recommend it.
20 000 miles shy of the recommended replacement date, the timing belt malfunctioned. It hadn't broken and there was damage to rockers, but not pistons. This was all explained to me by Mark. The work didn't take as long as expected and cost less than the estimate. I was extremely grateful that a courtesy car was available, too. The car was back on the road within days. I would definitely consider using this garage again.
It is not often that a garage will take the time to take pictures of the repair work they did on your car, only in order to better explain what they've done. This garage did. I consider myself a pretty competent DIY mechanic. I service my old Disco. I've a reasonable working knowledge of an engine. When my car broke down, I knew what was wrong - but I didn't know why it had gone wrong. This garage took the time to explain the fault. Where some garages might replace an entire part for a fault connection, at great expense for the part and labour, this garage sought a clever and equally robust solution. Not, I hasten to add, a hatchet job - I checked. What's my point? This garage is unlike most others I've experienced - and, being the owner of an old Land Rover, I've experienced many. If you're unfortunate enough to break down and need a garage, go here. If you just need a local garage, go here. Top job - well done!
Shzrnford garage were great when my son broke down recently after travelling up from the Bristol area.Mark collected the car, gave a full diagnostic report and coatings and completed the work. I was kept informed of the cost and there were no hidden extras. I am now seriously thinking of getting my car serviced and mom's there.
Supplied and fitted 4 new tyres on my 1961 TR4, also fitted a steering box on my 1966 A35 van. Excellent service over the years on both my classic & modern vehicles and highly recommended.
