We came to pick up a short length of timber to make a shelf. The whole staff make it easy to get just what you require. The stock at the yard is amazing and well priced, and the guys in the yard couldn't be more helpful when picking out the piece we needed. It's great that there is no difference whether your'e just a punter looking for a metre or two of planed timber or someone in construction making a bulk purchase. A perfect destination for the small time diy-er likemyself.
Needed some bed slats replacing. Removed the old ones. Showed them one and cup four for me. Just had to screw them into place. Thank you very much staff so friendly and helpful 10 stars out of 5
First time i have ever used James Chambers. Called in for a very simple order and some advice on purchasing some timber to use for standing on while laying some turf. The two gentlemen behind the counter were very helpful in finding something suitable, and even cut the timber in half to fit in my car. First class service and very polite. Will definitely use James Chambers again.
Quality products but a particularly rude member of staff (J Hoyle). On my visit on 15/04 he kept emphasising how expensive oak was which was rather insulting and said the company couldn't just make items up which is not what I had asked. Then upon collecting my order on 17/04 he spoke to Bradley very abruptly. He said just go and give her her stuff and you can do the paperwork after. He moaned about the computer being way too slow. So rude and not a good experience at all.
Great service and quality timber! All C16 delivered was of great quality without defects. All the staff are friendly and helpful! Was interesting to see the different amount of timber they had available. Will be back!
Well what can I say! I went into store for help and advise about a project I was undertaking at home. All the staff were so friendly and polite. I was assisted by a real life knight in shining armour in the name of Brian who looked at my drawings, worked out how much material I needed, had it all cut and packed for me and then rang me when it was ready for collecting. From start to finish Brian was professional, patient and put me at ease that what I wanted to achieve was possible.You are a legend Brian. Thank you so much. I recommend you with no hesitation
When I first visited the store on a Sunday to buy some plywood cut to size and 2x2, I found the person behind the counter uninterested and not very helpful. I was told that the wood would be cut in 2-3 days and should definitely be ready to collect on Wednesday, also I would get a call when it was ready. By Friday I still hadn’t received a call so called myself. I got a call back after 30 mins saying the wood was ready. Straight away I went to the store and waited for the man behind the counter to finish serving someone else. I told him I had come to collect some wood (this was the same person I had ordered the wood from who was again uninterested and rude), he said I would have to go find someone in the yard as he was too busy. I managed to wave someone down who was also very busy driving a forklift truck around, he was helpful and polite and directed me to the sawmill. When I got to the sawmill the staff there didn’t seem to know what was going on but eventually found part of my order and helped to carry it to my car. When I asked where the rest of it was he again was very confused. We ended up going back to the original man who managed to find some time in his very busy schedule of attending to an empty store to get the rest of my order. When I got round to using the wood which I had cut to hopefully get a more accurate finish, the size were all out and seemed rushed. I guess these were cut in the 30 mins I waited for a call back. So if I could rate this company lower I would, and I definitely recommend to stay clear.
I'd been struggling with a local timber merchants in Nottinghamshire who didn't even know their wood and I am still waiting over a week and a half for some items to arrive. If only I had known about this place earlier! I'd been recommended by a friend to come here and it was well worth the visit on Friday. The staff were all very friendly and helpful in the shop especially as I didn't know what to look for on the list my hubby gave me. They were very patient with me too. I was so pleased with their quick service as they delivered 60 odd miles away today. The chap who delivered was also very friendly and helpful with moving things around in the garage for it all to fit in. I will definitely be using again and be recommending in the future. Now I have to wait until hubby gets back from work to see if I ordered the right stuff, ha ha.
