We had a poor experience with Watkins Solicitors in Bristol during our house purchase. We were passed between several solicitors, emails were often sent to only one of us, and we often heard key updates from the sellers before our own solicitors. Documents were disorganised, the client app was never updated, and when we asked for clearer guidance, responses became curt. After completion, we raised a formal complaint, but Watkins Solicitors rejected every concern and accepted no responsibility. A disappointing and stressful process — not recommended for first-time buyers or anyone wanting professional, attentive service.
Discriminatory and Hostile Towards Vulnerable White Clients. Visited Watkins to support a friend with learning difficulties. We were met with a passive-aggressive attitude from a staff member who showed no patience or professionalism. As we left, she muttered something in another language that came across as racially inappropriate toward my friend. Days later, while standing at a zebra crossing, the same woman saw us and deliberately sped up rather than stop. After the earlier incident, this felt targeted and deeply unsettling. This firm made us feel dismissed, disrespected, and unsafe. I would strongly advise others—especially vulnerable individuals—to think twice before using their services.
Watkins have acted on our behalf twice now and we highly recommend them, especially Morgan who is fantastic (and thank you Sophia for your help too). Great housing/conveyancing team especially Morgan! Morgan was very helpful and communicative, answered our questions quickly and helped us keep on track (e.g reminding us when we had documents to return). She did everything she could to get the sale and purchase done quickly and was friendly and professional both by email and on the phone. The Watkins solicitors app is user-friendly and helped us input all the information we needed to, so that aspect was made easier. Overall I would highly recommend Morgan and the Watkins solicitors conveyancing team.
Nearly impossible to get feedback or at least a call back. Numerous spelling errors adding delay and stress. Incapable of reissuing error-filled reports, frequently avoiding questions entirely. Internal QA procedures are shambles, lacking even page numbers on reports - how this company is still doing business is beyond my comprehension. Would rate it in the negative star numbers if possible. The fact that we managed to complete the house purchase is nothing short of a miracle.
Very slow and unprofessional, wouldnt recommend on the basis that its been over 4 months and they cant even complete a sale. A part of this is because trainee staff are being useless and dont respond on time nor stay in the office and either on lunch or break or off on holiday or the usual excuses. I feel like smashing my head against the wall!!!
The service my daughter and her half sisters mum have received dealing with the probate and house sale after the death of her father has been absolutely appalling. Two children lost their farther at a young age and not only has this been really poorly handled at every stage in the process, Tony and the team can’t even make the effort to respond to urgent calls and emails from my daughter when she has been trying to find out what’s going on. This has been beyond distressing for the whole family.
Kate and the team were excellent throughout my mortgage and remortgage. The process was very smooth, things progressed quickly and their work was professional and thorough. Communication was clear, quick responses to emails and they made everything clear and easy to understand. I would recommend.
