After disappointing visits to other salons, we chose Headmasters as we had seen and heard rave reviews about the salon. We were fortunate to choose Megan to style my teen daughter’s hair and she has been amazing. My daughter feels comfortable at each appointment. Megan is attentive and listens to requirements. She offers good hair advice and my daughter walks out loving her hair style every time. As a salon, not only do they look after the customer in the chair, they always make sure that on the occasions I am accompanying mum, I am attended to too, offering drinks etc. We love the fact evening appointments are offered as this fits around our work and college schedules. Although we live 24 miles away, the distance to travel is well worth the trip. We would recommend Headmasters and the very lovely Megan every time!

Nathan treated my daughter like royalty. It wasn’t even a ‘treat’ just a standard haircut but he went above and beyond and made her feel so welcome!

After looking online for a hair salon that specialises in cutting affro hair reached out to headmasters to arrange a consultation via video call as I live over an hour away. My consultation went very well it was with Mel, who put me a ease with the type of cut and style I wanted to have done After explaining that I'd experienced bad hair cuts and treatments over the years from salons who didn't know what to do with my hair. Unfortunately Mel's diary was fully booked for months and as I wanted to do something for myself ( I'm a mother of 2 young children) and because the salon advertised that they do affro/curly hair I looked at the staff available and chose Abi as her starting rate was the same as Mel,s and I assumed that she would have the same experience and be well educated and trained to cut my hair. When the day came I drove to the salon (1 hour 20 min drive away) When Abi saw me I could tell she was surprised Mel was there and told Abi briefly about our video chat. I did feel a nervous at this point. Once in the chair I informed Abi of the style I was going for and showed her a few example photos o my phone. I got the feeling she was unsure about cutting g my hair and asked her if she felt confident, and she assured me she was. However she did talk me out of cutting as short as I wanted, which at the time when she was explaining seemed OK. Abi proceeded to cut my hair explaining about length and shrinking ( which I was aware of) She did poke my shoulder areas several times with the scissors while she was cutting my hair, which I laughed off at the time ( because I'm not confident with speaking up in these situations) and because I was saved by the gown. My hair wash experience was the best Ive ever had. Abi applied product to my hair and informed me that there were better products available for my hair type that the salon didn't stock (she asked if I had used any if the Cantu range) she did explaining about using the right amount of product to ensue my curls held their shape and my hair didn't frizz. Abi used her fingers to define my curls and said it was best not to put heat on them and to let them air dry. This ment leaking the salon not knowing what the finished result would be. She did say that if I was somewhere else that I would be put under a hair dryer for about an hour to set the curls. I was in a rush to get back home as it was my daughters preschool graduation so paid and left. Once my hair was set I separated some of the curls which were well diffined. However I hated the cut, the front was too long and I wasn't comfortable wearing it out. Also after 3 days I had to wash my hair as it became really itchy, so I don't think the product suited my scalp. Once my hair was washed I took a good look at my hair and realised that I had paid £125 for the ends to be trimmed. I have been beating myself up for over a week and feeling like a fool. I contemplated going back but after replaying my experience over in my mind decided that to drive over an hour, to sit in a chair and have someone who isn't confident cut my hair again wasn't worth the stress. I thought about going to a different salon. Again the stress was manifesting. So in the end I went to boots. Brought some scissors for £11 Found a video online and cut my own hair I love what I did! I don't believe I will ever go back to any hair salons as they always leave me disappointed and out of pocket. I don't think that Headmasters should advertise that they specialise in affro or that the will put their clients at ease with there knowledge and understanding, because I didnt have this experience when I was sat I the chair. I think that had I booked with Mel things may have been different. This is all I can say about my experience at Headmasters.

It was my first visit to the salon. Having been with another hairdresser for many years I dreaded the thought of finding another one after one I was with retired. Tried another one from that salon but didn’t quite work out. Having read reviews about the salon, I made an appointment with Mel. And what a wonderful experience it Was. Salon is very nice and if I wasn’t taken aback by lying down washing basin set up – I would have relaxed a bit more. Mel immediately understood what I wanted and cut my hair perfectly. We never stopped chatting and before I knew it I had lovely bouncy hair cut just as I wanted. Mel also gave me few tips on haircare and shampooing. The excellent quality of cut has passed first was test too. I managed to re-create (almost) blow dry by myself in 15-20 min. Overall one very happy customer who will come again. Mel (and Headmaster)- thank you so much!

I had my haircut few days ago at Headmasters with Mel. I am very happy about my haircut, Mel did a very good job. She explained to me what she had in mind for me and after that, she gave me also some tips for drying my hair. She is really nice and friendly. A great overall experience, since when I walked into the shop and then met Mel. I will definitely come back and I will recommend Headmasters (and Mel) to all my friends. Thank you!

I've been twice now and both times I couldn't have been happier. I see Mel and not only is she so lovely and put me at ease straight away, she was so helpful in offering suggestions about how to grow out my hair. I said I wanted a really easy to maintain cut and that's exactly what she gave me. I felt really listened to and definitely left with a better style thanks to her suggestions. The place itself is also particularly lovely, such a welcoming atmosphere and if you're an anxious person like I promise even you will be comfortable here. Everyone who works here seems so lovely and it's a very modern and stylish salon without feeling intimidating. Definitely going to continue going here!

Such a lovely experience at Headmasters - the salon itself is lovely and the staff are all very friendly. I was booked in with Keri and she did an amazing job on the hair cut as well as making me feel welcome in the salon. You can tell she really cares about the whole customer experience. The hair wash was also great as was the coffee. It was my first time at the salon and I would definitely recommend and return!

I am a past client of headmasters but on this occasion was treating myself to a wash and blow dry, as I was attending a long awaited wedding. It was a last minute decision and I was lucky that they could accommodate me on a busy Saturday morning with only four days notice. I was greeted by a young lady who made me feel very welcome. I was offered a drink whilst I waited for my appointment. The stylist that looked after me was fabulous. I had a nice relaxing wash, using a very comfortable chair with an added bonus of a foot rest if wanted. He did exactly as I had hoped and was able to give my flat, very straight, short hair body and shape. I loved it and was so pleased I had returned to Headmasters. Thank you.
