Chapter Arts Centre is a creative and welcoming space with a great mix of art, film, and community vibes. The exhibitions and cinema are always interesting, and the café is a nice spot to relax. A lovely place to spend time, though it can get a bit busy at peak times.
Cool indie cinema, brilliant theatre, stunning galleries, cozy cafe-bar with great craft beer. Relaxed vibe, super friendly staff, always something exciting on. Best cultural spot in Canton - feels like home every visit!
Today I attended an event at Chapter Arts Centre focused on patients, medication, and our health.. bringing together doctors, pharmacists, clinics, advocacy groups, and patients alike. The event itself was wonderful: informative, inclusive, and full of positive conversations about how we can better support one another. Unfortunately, the experience was overshadowed by the venue’s actions. Attendees were asked to leave because the staff were not up to date on what CBMPs (Cannabis-Based Medicinal Products) are. This decision felt deeply discriminatory toward people who rely on prescribed medication for legitimate health conditions. It’s important to remember that the Equality Act exists for exactly this reason.. to ensure no one is treated unfairly due to their health or medical needs. Stigma should never override the law or compassion. Many of us attending were simply trying to participate in an event about health and wellbeing, yet we were made to feel excluded for managing our health responsibly. I truly hope Chapter Arts Centre takes this as an opportunity to educate their team, review their policies, and work toward becoming a more inclusive and understanding venue. No patient should have to fear being discriminated against for their prescribed treatment.
Me and my dad went just for the gallery and we absolutely loved and analyzed the current exhibition. We really like what the artists were expressing and felt the difficulties endured by those immigrant women. It was thought provoking. We got a pleasant and interesting visit. I recommend this place especially if you're into modern art.
Thoroughly impressed with the space and the services offered. I think one improvement that could be made is to the seating area on the ground floor. It crowds the bar a bit which can quickly become a bottleneck when the venue is busy. The theatre rooms themselves were brill, great to see the sound and stage effects team working behind the scenes at the rear of the seating area. Seating was perfect for a 1-2 hour showing, any longer might be rougher on the knees and back. Staff were super friendly, offered all sorts of recommendations. Beautiful outside seating area with heatlamps provided.
Lovely independent cinema and arts venue. Always lots of interesting events and showings on. Plus, the cafe/bar area is a great space to meet for a drink.
Lunch on Monday it was vegan stew or a vegan Jamaican veg pot with “fritter” the stew was tasty but it needed a lump of crusty bread the other dish was a load of over cooked soggy veg and the fritter was like a dry donut ! I ordered extra fritters as we were both hungry….. our meals took 20 minutes to arrive they were served on paper plates?! £19 for two small meals and 3 dry donuts. Been a while since we’ve eaten in Chapter and it will be a while till we think about returning. I bought a sandwich in the coop afterwards I was hungry.
Absolutely love it here. There's a large open area to grab food and drinks (staff are very friendly and helpful with dietary needs). Then there are all sort of arty activities which lead off from the main space. Cinema, printing, dance lessons, orchestral choirs. It was amazing having a wander round before a film.
Great independent cinema just outside centre of Cardiff. Seats were very comfy and tickets were cheap. Got a pint which was a little pricy, (£5) but overall great experience. Didn’t try much of the food or cake but looked quite nice. (Also cheap filter coffee!) I would definitely come again, and also wouldn’t mind doing some work there as the cafe was big and calm.
Gem of a place has something for everyone. Independent cinema movies, (very)nice coffee +/- cake or food, meet friends for drinks, plenty of space for meet ups with prams and has regular classes too. Very friendly and helpful staff ❤️
