The Angel Hotel – Comfortable Stay with Great Service Stayed at The Angel Hotel and found it to be a solid 3-star choice. The atmosphere is modern and functional, with some nice touches in the rooms. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the tea and drink selection was a pleasant surprise. Reception was happy to provide extra milk and tea when needed, which was a nice touch. Service throughout was excellent – reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast service was spot on. The breakfast itself was really good, which added to the overall experience. Only gave 4 stars for the rooms as they also let a bit of a draft in through the sash windows. The location is very convenient and close to local attractions. The only downside was some road noise, but earplugs made it manageable. Parking is available, but it’s first come, first served, so arriving late on a busy day could be tricky. The hotel also has a lift, which is great for accessibility and convenience. Overall, a great option for a short stay if you want comfort, good service, and easy access to the area.

Clean and well maintained throughout. Convenient location in the town centre. Very helpful and attentive reception staff Mucktadim and Mathew. A very friendly breakfast team and tasty fresh breakfast cooked to order.

The hotel has character, but not much apart from it. The rooms have no air conditioning in the summer, the service wasn’t great. and the entire place is in need of refurbishments. The location, however, was convenient and the breakfast was decent. If you’re looking for convenience, this is a safe pick, but it lacks the comfort provided by other hotels nearby.

Stayed here for a friends wedding, as it was very convenient for the Glasshouse. Stinking hot weekend, and we were in a room without air con. There was a desk fan and staff were very obliging when we asked for sheets to replace the duvet. There is a pub opposite which is quite noisy, but on the stroke of 2300 they are moved in side. Breakfast was great, with a wide selection of options including gluten free. Given the hot weather there was plenty of bottled water on offer. Staff were very friendly with the notable exception of the recptionist on arrival, who I think wins the competition for the least heartfelt "Enjoy your stay" ever. Trying to check in and every other interaction with her was an inconvenience to her. Hence the three starts and not the 5.

The hotel itself is nice - in slight need of modernising but I assume they’re restricted by listed building status or budget. The location is absolutely fantastic, however, the hotel charges £12 per day for parking which is limited - there are some flaws with this hotel. Whilst it has been warmer this week, it shows the hotel’s weakness for comfort. Zero air conditioning. Being supplied a small desk fan to keep cool with was impossible - staying here in the sauna-like bedroom for 3 nights felt like a physical challenge I’d signed myself up for. All of the above could be overlooked apart from having to deal with some of the staff. I stay in a lot of hotels for work and don’t think I’ve stayed in a hotel with such curb appeal yet such rude staff. Maybe it’s a new team but there was a lot of infighting particularly in front of customers. Breakfast was slow to order (although the food was very good when it arrived). In particular there was an older waitress with dark hair who upon delivery of the food consistently almost threw the plates down to nearly every customer. The next morning on checkout, she was taking the breakfast order of the receptionist (who was in general very helpful) and every item the receptionist mentioned, the older waitress was repeatedly calling her a pig. I chuckled to make it a bit less awkward but it was it was clear it wasn’t a joke. Maybe I’ve misread the situation but it definitely felt like there was a hostility around it. Not the worst stay I’ve had but for the price of the hotel it just felt a very strange dynamic.

Not a welcoming reception. Room (2) was great but it was SO noisy as opposite a pub. Didn't get to sleep till 3.00am. No double glazing though would suggest triple as the hotel us on an interchange of busy roads. Charge £5 per might for guest parking - outrageous. Were not informed at the rime if booking about builders so no privacy during the day as walking passed the windows constantly plus noise from radio (although they don't work at weekends). Blind in bathroom (very nice bathroom) did not work prperly so couldn't tilt the blind the other way for privacy from the workmen. Will not stay again.

Most of our wedding guests & family stayed here during our youngest son's wedding. We all had a fabulous time, the staff were brilliant. So welcoming and helpful, the Angel team made our stay so comfortable. The actual wedding was held in the Glasshouse only a short walk away. Thanks again to the Angel for a great weekend!

Excellent value , great position for restaurants, staff were lovely, very approachable and helpful, beds very comfy and breakfast was delicious well cooked and good quality. I’m used to living on busy road so traffic didn’t bother me but be aware you could have a room directly above the road. Rooms were very clean I did get a bit hot early hours but I could open window. Would definitely return.

We stayed here the night after our wedding as we were exhausted and on the way to our honeymoon, our stay couldnt have been better. Car park is only £5 - we are used to hotels charging £30-35 so, wow, thank you. Bed super comfortable and huge, bedroom light and warm, bathroom with massive shower. Only downside was hot water coming from both cold and hot tap so had to buy water, but then again they give you a free small bottle with the room, as well as tea, milk, etc. It was suprisingly gorgeous.
