Reviewing on behalf of my Ukranian refugee guest who has just visited the gym and returned to say that she had caught another gym user trying to take photos of her rear whilst using equipment and performing squats. Is this normal behaviour at your gym? It should be a safe place for all to use without the fear of intimidation and being photographed.
It's got all the machines and spaces that I need - great to have a pool onsite too- with none of the usual problems of gyms. The music isn't too annoying. Other punters mostly put their weights back on the rack. It's rare that I'd have to wait for a machine because somebody's using it as a convenient seat for playing with their phone. Staff actually want to help. I haven't yet noticed many creepy blokes leering at female customers. I'm very happy overall. The switch from DW to Everlast was mostly painless.
I’ve been coming to DW for a couple of years now... the staff have always helped and show me how to work the machines or answer any of my questions, they’ve always made me feel comfortable and I think that’s really important. I love going in the steam room and especially the swimming pool... no other gym in Halifax has one- so this is a massive plus for DW. This year I’ve recently started going to the classes and my goodness... they are absolutely fantastic... I wish I’d tried them sooner...! The atmosphere is always spot on... I’ve made some friends along the way too! They’ve recently taken on a new manager and he’s absolutely spot on and I think DW will absolutely thrive under his reign! Sometimes after classes a group of ladies sit and have a coffee in the cafe area and if you need a bit of company... I think this gym would be perfect for you... especially if you like a coffee from Starbucks. It’s a really good gym... but don’t just take my word for it... go down and have a look at the constant improvements and lovely atmosphere.
Excellent gym, helpful staff. Tom explained thoroughly my membership details and helped me further when I couldn’t log on to the app to book classes. Everyone friendly and approachable. Surprised by the negative reviews on here as I’m extremely happy with my membership. The shop upstairs is great with nice staff and a great range of clothing.
Pool is nice enough, good jacuzzi and sauna and gym is not to bad . What really lets it down is very unhelpful staff bordering on rude, restrictive hours and fact that they starting to close down areas to early so they can go home. By 9.20 pm sauna it’s switched off, jacuzzi closed and cleaner is staring at u in changing room waiting for u to leave. For the price they are charging I would expect better service or at least to be left in peace
I like that everything is under one roof, I can gym, swim, do classes and use the steam room all for a reasonable price. Off peak is good value. I travel 2 to 3 months a year, I like that I am able to suspend my membership while I am away (for £5.00 per month). Staff are a quite young, they would benefit from a little customer care training such as acknowledging you as you leave, being more present in the gym.
One of the better gyms in Halifax, really decent equipment most of which is never too busy apart from free weights which isn't usually too bad either, certainly not as bad as other gyms I've been too. Pretty nice pool which is always empty which is great for me, probably a bit short on length (I think 18m), but also has nice steam room and hot tub. Only been to one or two classes as they seem to be in abundance in normal working hours and then filled up super fast for peak slots such as spin class at 7pm but when I went pretty good.
