We would highly recommend Adam Mercer and Sinclairs Law. We appointed Adam two days before our tribunal hearing when the local authority appointed a barrister last minute. Adam could not have been more helpful and supportive. We would not have achieved the outcome needed for our child without him.

Outstanding Support from Adam Mercer – Highly Recommended In March 2025, I reached out to Sinclair Law after the local authority proposed placing my son—who had been in a special needs environment for six years—into a mainstream college setting. It was a deeply concerning situation for our family, and that’s when we were introduced to Adam. From the very first conversation, it was clear we were in safe hands. Adam’s calm, empathetic nature and meticulous attention to detail immediately reassured us. He took the time to truly understand our circumstances, and his communication throughout the entire process was exceptional. Even during the most challenging moments, Adam’s professionalism and clarity made everything easier to manage. Working with Adam was not only effective—it was a genuine pleasure. He guided us through the complexities of our son’s EHCP issues with confidence and care, and ultimately helped us reach a resolution we felt was right and fair. I would recommend Adam Mercer without hesitation to any family navigating similar challenges. He is a true professional and a credit to Sinclair Law.

Mike represented me in 2003. He was a shining light, for someone who did not have an easy ride in the education system. I have lifetime irreversible baggage. I will never get over it. Mike wasnt made aware of my past education journey from my primary to secondary years but I will always be indebted to him, a blessing in disguise. He won my case, he gave me best legal advice and I cannot thank him enough. There was a conspiracy plot to fail me because I was an easy target who carried childhood trauma at the latter stages of my education journey. I had suffered a nervous breakdown aged 15 years old. This was the foundations in me to suffer 25 years of non motor epilepsy seizures and finally receiving a diagnosis. Due to the neuro symptoms I was often called mad or persuaded I had some psychiatric illness in the NHS. I remained strong. I wish Mike was recommended to us way back in the 1990's. When something like epilepsy hits you, its life changing, coupled with depression, anxiety, hopelessness and fear, it can be an over whelming experience. Negative things happens one after another. I struggled to get a grip in dealing with conflict and exploitation. It took me 10 years to learn how to laugh. Without the expertise like Mike, others like myself in the 1984 big brother education system, a survivor will not be represented. I strongly believe radical changes are needed in the education system to move on with the modern times. Children have rights, to be treated with respect and a voice to be heard. I have complex health issues, I had to stop teaching. I did 8 years service. It wasnt a choice to teach as history was repeating itself with my oldest son. I reluctantly returned to the education system as a HLTA, ghosted but wiser. My wounds have healed. The system isnt as dark but choatic in my personal experience. My educational experience has had a profound effect on me. I remembered Mike telling me you are now free, his words were inspirational. I think he had an inkling I had inner demons. He is so well experienced. He never asked, it remains in the past. I respect him for this. He had so much empathy. I truly feel that now. He carried me to the finish line, exhausted mentally, emotionally battered and bruised. My victory is his also. I know my parental rights of my 2 boys who are are neurodiverse. Experiences shapes you who you are Mike is an outstanding professional pro. We need more like him out there. Thank you Mike. My maiden name is Grace if you may remember me Mike.

My husband and I contacted Sinclairslaw at the start of summer to begin judicial review procedures after our send tribunal. Adam Mercer was a steady hand and managed to circumvent matters, helping my child get educational provision in place for the first time in many years. He was what every SEND parent hopes to find in trying circumstances: calm, consistent, knowledgeable and skilled. He genuinely is a remarkable person and we are very greatful to have him help improve our childs future prospects. We will be seeking his help again in the coming months and I recommend him very highly to anyone looking for help in this area.

I contacted Sinclair’s Law in December after two years of my daughter not attending school and facing the threat of prosecution for non attendance. My parental EHCP application failed at panel and I was really concerned that my daughter’s needs were not being recognised by her school and the local authority. I spoke with Adam Mercer Solicitor and he offered me a calm and rational response to a very stressful situation. It’s taken a number of months and we have now a full EHCP in place with EOATs and a fully funded place at the online school we wanted. Adam has been a calm and supportive solicitor who has attended meetings, mediation and issued judicial review and letter before action letters to the local authority. His knowledge and dedication to ensure the very best outcome for my daughter has been outstanding and we would not be in this position without his support. I can’t thank Adam and his name enough and will continue to stay in touch with updates . I would recommend anyone who is struggling with difficulties with their child’s school place to contact and work with Adam . Thank you Adam you really have been a shining light for us in dark times.

Sinclairslaw supported us through a very difficult time when challenging the Local Authority regarding our grandsons EHCP. Adam Mercer and Christopher McFarland provided excellent advice and support. We were able to get assessments that highlighted his needs and at tribunal got the EHCP he needed to support his needs going forward. Thank you to all at Sinclairslaw who have made a big difference in our lives and the hope that our grandsons needs can now be met appropriately.

We used Sinclairslaw to contest our local authority about our son's EHCP and we cannot recommend them highly enough, Adam Mercer and Chris McFarland were just incredible throughout the lengthy fight we had, they kept us informed throughout and ultimately won us the independent specialist school we were fighting for! We avoided two tribunal hearings thanks to Sinclairslaw and got the best possible outcome!

I called Sinclairs Law for assistance with a University fees matter and was put in touch with Chris McFarland in the Education Team. I was really impressed with both the service (timeliness, friendliness) and quality of advice and professionalism I received from both Chris and his team (in particular Lynsey Curtis who kept me informed of progress at every step of the way). Would absolutely recommend for an education related matter.

I used the services of the Education Team in the Cardiff branch as a university student. My solicitor, Mr McFarland, and his team were excellent. From the onset they were genuinely caring, professional and thorough throughout. I was ultimately successful in my university appeal and got the outcome I wanted. I can confidently say that this would not have occurred if it were not for the services of Sinclairs Law.

Victoria Meehan, couldn’t have been less helpful if she tried. I was given a lead time of 2 weeks for a solicitor within the field of Education (EHCP) was available. Emailed on week three. Victoria emailed back “no availability until September”?!. When I enquired as to why she had stated 2 weeks. I received this response (not an auto response, in capitals ). “ I NO LONGER WORK FOR SINCLAIRS LAW. So rude and really sets the tone, as a representative of any company. Lucky escape !!! - Avoid at all costs **
