Shocking. Went to make a claim sick pay insurance as my wife has cancer. Made the claim after the diagnosis for the cancer only to find out that they won't pay if you get diagnosis within the 1st 7 days, even if you make the claim 2 months later... I would advise either not to get ill and take time off or plan when your going to get ill preferably after 8bdays of taking the policy out. Disgraceful

A Policy Riddled with Exclusions and Waiting Periods. Please Don't Rely On Them! I was rushed into hospital recently due to severe stomach pains. After numerous tests, including CT scans, an MRI, and blood tests, it was determined that I required surgery to remove my gallbladder and multiple gallstones from the surrounding ductwork. (I apologise for the non-medical description.) As I do not receive sick pay, I purchased this insurance for the additional financial cover while off work. Please do not rely on National Friendly! My central complaint, and the most dishonest aspect of the cover, relates to the hospital cash benefit (which requires paying extra for the 'Additional Sickness Benefit' option). The policy suggests you receive £50 per day while in hospital. However, after calling them while I am currently admitted to hospital, I was told my claim was instantly rejected. The reason? The policy conditions explicitly state: "You will not be able to claim for any hospital visit that relates to sickness within the first 9 months of the policy start date." This means that if you suffer an illness or injury before that date, your claim will be rejected. What is the point of an insurance policy with a restriction like that? Other Terrible Terms Hidden in the Policy: 9-Month Exclusion (Confirmed): The hospital cash benefit for sickness is excluded within the first 9 months of the policy. Pre-existing Conditions: They will not pay if your sickness is "directly or indirectly related to a pre-existing condition". To claim, you must have been completely symptom-free for a continuous period of at least 18 months. Mental Health Exclusions: Sickness claims relating to most mental health conditions, including stress, anxiety, and depression, are explicitly excluded from cover. Accident vs. Sickness: If you do not select the additional sickness benefit option, you cannot claim for any illness-related event—only those resulting from an injury caused by a specific 'impact accident'. Staying Covered: You must continue to pay your monthly premiums during your claim in order to qualify for any benefit. Medical Advice Requirement: They can decline payment if you fail to follow the appropriate medical advice you are given. I have told National Friendly to cancel the policy immediately. After now reading the policy documents fully, I agree that it is a complete waste of money and provides no real benefit when an urgent medical issue arises. I truly hope people see this review before wasting their money. National Friendly feels like a company that likes to kick you when you are down.

i have cancelled about three times now as i found them extremely pushy even though i said no to them several times i was constantly badgered with so many different numbers in the end i found my self agreeing to the first call and without thinking handed over my bank details then thought about it cancelled it and and then kept receiving calls again and they started my bank up again and kept taking money so cancelled again and they started it up again so they must keep your bank details to be able to do it i want your company to dam well stop taking my money i am struggling as it is

I called and asked they will contact me by email as I work 12 hr 6x a week instead no message no update was made and they never send me any confirmation email bout my current deal. Instead they tried to called me even when I was explicitly telling them i can not take phone calls when I work! Noone really try to talk to me which is very upsetting because i need to do some changes and updates. Would not recommed even becuse their calculation for my income protection was covering just part of my emplyment completely excluded my self employment but for me its 50/50 work for myself and work for employer and if something happens i am screwed :/
