After losing a parent it is obviously an emotionally distressing time, this company have no after care , compassion or urgency. My late Mums property was placed in a Probate Trust with Countrywide 13 years ago but since her recent passing ive found the Trust department impossible to communicate with either via telephone or email. They just pass the buck. I am now on my THIRD case handler, none of whom you can talk with directly. We have a cash buyer for our property, no chain, all of countrywide requests for documents and ID requirements from the beneficiaries have been sent, my prospective buyer wanted to complete by Christmas , there appears to be Zero chance ...if I lose this buyer I will sue for the full value via my legal team. My 1 star is only because the conveyance team led by my solicitor at countrywide legal, Dorothy, have been excellent so far. Don't expect any help from these Trust people.

Avoid! As per other reviews the conveyancing appears to be competent but the Countrywide Trust Management team are woefully unfit for purpose. They do not communicate unless chased heavily, miss significant deadlines resulting in extra costs, give misinformation and are generally impossible to pin down. We are trying to close out family trust down due to their failings. This has caused significant stress on myself and my elderly mother.... Edit... 4 days on from their auto reply below they have not contacted me directly about these issues and have since apparently sent another document to the wrong address, further delays....

I have dealt with three of the Countrywide divisions, so I will review all in order 1) Probate – after my mother died the probate case handler took charge of dealing with all aspects of my mothers’ estate. She was efficient, communicated clearly and kept us up to date with what was happening to the estate. 5 stars 2) Conveyancing – As is often the case when selling a property problems arose. Again, we had clear prompt communication, recommendations as to what to do / not do to ensure that the sale went through as quickly as was possible. 5 Stars 3) Trust – What a disaster a. Three weeks from probate finished to having a case handler assigned, and then only after several calls to complain b. Told several times response time to email enquiries FIVE to SEVEN working days, which is just ridiculously slow. c. The first set of documents eventually sent out after more phone calls. The purpose of the documents is to detail who gets what from the remining estate. These are a set of off-the-shelf documents with the trust name, beneficiaries and the amount. The amount was wrong despite the correct information being provided by the probate team. d. A week after the signed documents had been returned to the trust team nothing happened. e. You can try ringing your case handler, but they will always be “in a meeting”, “not on the floor” or “out to lunch”. You can try asking to talk to the team leader, but they are never available or can make an appointment in 5 days’ time. I suspect that the trust team deliberately goes slowly because they have your money and don’t want to release it, they claim they are not making interest on it but I find that hard to believe. I cannot recommend this company at a time of sad loss the trust team just add more stress by their behaviour. To keep this comment up to date. I had a call with Acting Team Leader, complaining about the lack of responce got a "so what" attitude, so I moved on to the statement of account that was wrong - after 10 minutes explaining why it was wrong he accepted and agreed to send out a updated statement. Next I requested that the signed loan documents be sent. It is now been nearly ONE MONTH and nothing Service by this department is so bad I would remove the 1 star if I could

Absolutely shocking, lost a beloved family member earlier this year who left her House in Trust with Countrywide as she thought it was a good idea, so did we at the time. Big mistake, they don’t seem to communicate and won’t let the house go so that it can be sold to a buyer. AVOID PEOPLE save yourself the aggravation. P.s the response from them will probably be automated, that’s what everyone seems to get so clearly not taking these bad reviews seriously.

EDIT: CTT's bot will post a standard response to any negative review saying they are sorry and that their client care team will help. For clarity IT WAS their "client care" team I was dealing with for 6 weeks and they were obstructive and completely useless. I wish I had read these reviews before agreeing for my estate planner to engage their services. We needed to provide notarized identification from overseas in order to register trusts and wills. I completely understand this requirement, since obviously verifying identity is important. So, my brother and I went to the considerable time and expense of finding a local notary and having them validate our identity documents to create notarised copies. We couriered them to the UK at considerable additional cost, only to be told they had been rejected because the notary was “non-practising”. What followed was the most bizarre and absurd round of conversations I have witnessed from a supposedly “professional” organization. Our notary was a non-practising lawyer and had indicated this on the copies but this is completely normal - notaries are often retired lawyers and do not have to be active lawyers, something that is clear in the Law Society rules of both the UK and Canada. The “client care” team made a mistake but rather than admit it, went to extraordinary lengths to double down - even going as far as trying to drag up dirt on the notary we used, all of which they later had to admit was nonsense! We ended up giving up on these people and found another company - who were more than happy to confirm our notarized documents were completely fine as provided! I think that sums this up rather well. Please stay away from this company - your experience will be frustration and significant wasted time and money.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they were recommended to us by a financial planner, so we trusted them. What a big mistake. It’s been a journey through Hell, not what you need when a loved one passes away. They don’t process anything in a timely manner, they misplace documents in their own office, to only be found weeks later. They lost my Late Fathers Will and then denied ever receiving it. STAY CLEAR, go somewhere else, wish I could give lower than a 1 star.

Be Aware! (This should be a zero star review but you can’t go less than one). It’s with regret that I leave a review of this nature but I want to try and help other people and CW avoid what we went through. Countrywide were entrusted by our grandmother to help manage her affairs after she died. At every single turn, CW have been a terrible company to deal with - not replying to emails, no opportunity to speak to anyone by phone, no consistent information and extremely unhelpful when you finally did get a reply. This is hands down one of the worst companies we’ve ever dealt with and I was forced to contact the CEO via Linked In to try and get some sense and help out of them which did speed things up but was still a shambles. Nothing was ever explained to us (and it’s complicated when dealing with death, tax, inheritance etc) we had many case workers and were never informed of changes, we had to chase for simple things and it felt as though no one was interested in our case or how to improve things, even when the CEO nudged things along. I would never recommend anyone using Countrywide for anything.

I would steer clear of Countrywide Tax & Trusts. While trying to unwind a family trust we found them incompetent and unprofessional with very poor communication. They're unhelpful and don't make it easy for you to understand process, let's say they take full advantage of this fact. Nothing gets sorted in a timely manner. So frustrating! Waiting, always excuses, more lies, leading to more delays. Anyone would think they're trying to hang on to your inheritance on purpose, as if? BEWARE!
