An absolutely lovely shop. Our car unfortunately got a puncture so we stopped in the lay-by opposite and walked over. The staff were so friendly and kind, offering us hot drinks and being so friendly. They have a wide variety of craft gifts to buy as well that were quite reasonable

I attended a workshop today with my sisters to make some little wooden houses. I have never done any kind of crafting before. The lady who ran the workshop was very encouraging and patient and Tony and the other lady who run the place were very polite and friendly. I wouldn’t have said that making things was really my cup of tea, but I really enjoyed my afternoon at The Squirrel.

This was our first visit to the Squirrel at Wellsborough. We booked for the sausage making workshop with some friends who were visiting. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after, with a cup of tea or coffee before we got ‘stuck in’ from the start of the process, cutting our meat from some very large pork shoulders. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly as we were guided through the various stages of preparation. There was an impressive selection of herbs and spices, and other options for flavouring. We spent a really enjoyable couple of hours making and linking our sausages, with our final products being wrapped for us to bring home. This morning we’ve enjoyed a selection of each, and I’m amazed to say as pure beginners we’ve made some lovely tasting sausages! We’ve never done this sort of thing before, but this place is a little gem, with the welcome we got, plus the cosiness of the environment we will certainly be returning for other activities in the future.

The cake was nice. The male host was nice. The course was badly organised. People were crammed in with not enough tools. The owner was rude. Shame as i belong to a craft club and had been trying it out for our group.Still, there are plenty of courses elsewhere in Leicestershire. I will never use this craft centre again.

I've attended a few different classes at Squirrel over the years. You're supporting a local business, local artists and artisans and getting a high quality experience in return. Of all the classes I've attended the results of Oil Painting with Character has totally blown me away. Tony strikes the right balance between being a good host and not detracting from the teaching whilst making sure all the guests have been looked after. The refreshments are noteworthy for their deliciousness and their inclusivity really taking dietary requirements and not making them an afterthought. Heather, the artist delivering the oil painting classes, finds the balance between tutor led and learner centred supporting everyone to find their own style. The end results are all unique and something we could all be proud of. I enjoyed this class so much I'd booked another of Heather's before we did the second part of the owl!
