We ordered Boiled Fish, deep fried chicken with chilli, green beans with egg yolk. The waitress missed one of the main dishes when she was taking the order, never made sure that we have had everything we ordered. So unfortunately we ended up waiting for the chicken for more than half an hour and never got it in the end. The fish is not good as expected either.

If you’re craving authentic Chinese flavors that hit all the right notes, you have to check out 三元里 (Ternary)! From the moment you walk up, the warm glow of the sign already feels like a promise—and trust me, the food absolutely delivers. I ordered the stir-fried beef noodles and was blown away. The beef was tender, the noodles perfectly chewy, and the veggies added just the right crunch. Every bite was coated in a rich, savory sauce that tasted like it came straight from a real street kitchen in Guangzhou. And the roast duck? Incredible. Crispy skin, juicy meat, and that glossy sauce that soaks into every piece—easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere in the city. Inside, the vibe is cozy and inviting, with little touches of traditional décor that make it feel like a hidden gem. If you want satisfying, flavorful Chinese comfort food made right, 三元里 Ternary is absolutely worth the visit. #blefast #belfastcity #belfastfoodie @ternarychineserestaurant @ternarychineserestaurant

First of all, the food quality was good. The roasted duck was fabulous and my husband really enjoyed 蒜蓉炒通菜 which we did not take a picture. In spite of the good food, we did not have a good experience in this restaurant. I’d have to say this is one of the places with worst service in the Uk I have encountered. When we asked about the differences of two fish dishes, the waitress replied in an unwelcoming tone, “they cooked in different ways”. I supposed if she was not sure, she could have asked other staff members? And this was not a once off event. I later asked about the portion of the bowl of rice, and she replied, “a bowl”. If one have experience of eating in a Chinese restaurant, one would know a bowl could vary a lot in size. I explained I wanted to know the portion as I didn’t want to waste the rice while I have a young child aged 4 with us. I got an answer that each person should order one bowl rice. I did so, and turned out we had to waste one full bowl of rice, as shown in picture 4. I saw some other reviews claiming staff members were helpful. It might just be us - as this was the one and will be the only time we are visiting this restaurant.

We got a takeaway from here tonight. On ordering a staff member had to make sure they weren't sold out of chicken??? Should have rang alarm bells. When we got home. The chicken consisted of scraps and included bone off the chicken (pink throughout) Absolutely inedible. I have never been sold such disgusting food in my life. Avoid.

Went here on a date with my girlfriend and was not disappointed, food was fantastic, well garnished, got 2 sides, mains, starters and drinks cost just over 33 quid. Service was fantastic and we were given free peanuts for what was a moderate wait time for the food. The plates and bowls were fine with soup being served in lovely fine pots brought to the table and fish served on a skillet with sauces. 5 stars will be back soon

Very slow service, taste is not great (had sweet and sour chicken with rice and duck spring rolls). Also please check your bill as they charged me incorrectly (instead of a meal deal for 14.8£, they charged me for each dish separately, so I ended up paying like ~4£ more, I realised that there was a mistake only after I left).

Some of the best Chinese food I've had in the UK. Had the meatball soup (手工肉丸汤), tofu with preserved egg (皮蛋豆腐), choy sum with garlic sauce (菜心), and the Chong Qing fried fish (重庆烤鱼). Everything was delicious, but the tofu was my personal favorite—I highly recommend. The staff were also very friendly and helpful when ordering. I should note, many of the more authentic dishes can only be found on the Chinese menu, which they also have an English transcript of, if you can't read Chinese, so you'll probably have to ask for one if you're not Chinese...

I really like the food here. A perfect place to enjoy Chinese food with friends. For me it’s the most authentic Chinese restaurant in Belfast.
