I don't go here that often, but I saw the Monday Madness takeaway offe. Fish, chips, any sauce and a can of pop for £6. The mini fish was a good size and the batter was crisp. Quite surprised with the amount of chips too. I would recommend either the gravy or curry sauce. I have asked before for a little salt or less salt, but they seem to be a bit heavy handed or the instruction didn't get passed over

1st time I’ve eaten at the Cods Scallops this evening. Ordered the cod & chips with sides of mushy peas & curry sauce all washed down with their own “Scale Ale” beer and have to say I was seriously impressed. Delicious and generously portioned fresh fillet of cod in a very light crispy batter, chips golden brown and crisp with a light fluffy centre. Just the way they should be! Mushy peas were just like grandma used to make! Absolutely delicious! All cooked fresh and piping hot! These guys know how to do it right! Absolutely Delicious! Top marks to the Cods Scallops! Very happy customer and will be back soon!

The food was poor for the price, £14.90 for large cod that was definitely not large, small pot of mushy peas and regular chips, however not to say it tasted the worst I’ve had. Do I feel ripped off ? A fair bit, especially with all their advertising of greatness and misleading ‘large Cod’. Mind you, alot do that now, look at Scarborough. Compared to others up north I’ve tried they’re very average, maybe I should give 5 stars to some of my other fish n chip reviews on 4. :) Nothing tasted terrible, it’s just not worth the hype. When I can get twice as better easily for a much reasonable price elsewhere..

Went here for food after a relaxing spa day with a friend, we were impressed! The food was delicious, especially the cod. The batter was amazing!! The staff were also very friendly and the restaurant clean. Would definitely make a return visit.

We visited here recently after watching the Long Eaton carnival, having plenty of seating to choose from. Staff members were very accommodating and showing us to our seats and then got a highchair for us. After getting comfy, we the staff member came over to take our order, We went for two mini fish and chip deals and a kids meal. The kids meal was right on the price point, including a drink, main meal and desert. We chose the fish finger and chips, to our surprise the fish fingers were huge, including chips in a mini sand bucket. For the kids dessert we went for ice cream in a pot. Staff throughout were very attentive to our needs and everywhere was spotless. We will definitely be visiting here again in the future.

First time ever visiting but have walked passed many times. Ordered online as I figured Saturday would be busy. I have fish and chips once every about 10 years so figured I would go for the best in the UK. I walked in, no faff with order numbers etc, they were expecting me and immediately made up my order. I was really pleased my order wasn't sat sweating under a hot light it was good that it was fresh out of the fryer. The cod was utterly delightful and so light, I genuinely struggled to eat it as it just fell apart on my fork. I mostly used the mushy peas to stick the fish to my fork so they ran out fast. Chips were good, not much flavour really, I am so used to leaving the skins on when I cook chips at home that peeled chips just taste a bit naff. Personal preference aside fair chips. Not going to make a habit of eating fish and chips anytime soon but would definitely recommend The Cod's Scallops if you're looking for a treat.

Ordered 2x meals from here via the just Eat App. The food and portion size was really good and the battered sausage was so good. However i do review a lot and i found this place to be on the pricey side. £1.70 for a pickled egg and £2.30 for a small pot of Gravy. Other than the prices the food and service was fantastic.

I’m love salmon. Got salmon and chips for 9 pounds plus a drink. Choice of baked or breaded. Baked salmon was very delicious. Salt and lots of Vinegar for the chips. Definitely worth stopping by if you are lodging at the Travel Lodge. Great service and friendly crew.
