We have been multiple times and every time the food is amazing. We have eaten in both the bar and restaurant area, both being lovely. The bar can get busy but not crowded. They forgot our desserts once but apologised and gave us free drinks to make up for it. Amazing service and the staff always happy to help.
Dined here for the first time today and we were really impressed! The food was fantastic, they informed us that they had just changed the menu, I had the chicken fricassee, beautifully rich and creamy sauce cooked to perfection and with real quality presentation. My wife had the beef bourguignone which was rich in flavour and delicious. Daughter had the small portion of mussels with fries on the side, which was lovely and still a generous portion. We also had a chicken and chorizo pizza to share as a starter, very nice but in total, probably more than welcome needed!! Will try the desserts next time. Highly recommend this place and we will be going back to Totnes to eat here!
I come here maybe once a month for coffee, food for a drink. I love the food but definitely on the pricey side which if you are looking for good decent food in Totnes then the bistro is great! Last time I was here I had the pesto pizza which was amazing! It’s definitely changed here in the few years but I do really like it. It’s very clean and a nice looking restaurant.
Lovely and cozy little restaurant, friendly and efficient staff, and good food. I had the special which was fish, and it was beautifully cooked. We found parking on the street a short walk away. I would recommend this restaurant for a night out with a small group of friends or for a date.
Lovely pub by the Riverside which has the feel of a proper restaurant. Nice and friendly staff who managed to find me a table despite being quite busy. Loved the very nice and tasty John Dory I had. The fish tasted so fresh. The best fresh fish I had in a long time. It was served with a generous portion of chips and salad. I would happily recommend this place.
We drove past and thought we would pop in for dinner and were not disappointed, really tasty food, nicely presented, with friend & helpful staff. Happy to recommend.
Been going here for years and it's always been expensive, but never has it been as bad and overpriced as it is now! £7.50 for a kids penne, swimming in tomato flavoured water yet the pasta was still dry - how is that even possible? £4.50 for an apple juice! £2.50 for 330ml of water. Slices of bread with soup so thin not even worthy of putting on the plate and none of that is even the worst... £22 for "half a lobster" which was more like the claw of a malnourished one! 4 bites, if that, for £22!! Don't even wanna know what the supposed whole lobster for £38 looks like. I used to not mind this place, even though it's probably the most expensive in town, their fish soup used to be good and was cleaner outside with a nicer vibe (however it's still very hard to find anywhere to sit outside away from smokers). Now it's just taking the mick out of the good old folk of Totnes if you ask me.
My friends & I are still not ready to be in close confines indoors with others, so we wanted to go somewhere & eat outside. You can't book the outside tables - they're first come first served. The tables next to the river go first. You decide what food & drink you want and make a note of your table number. You then order outside at the till & pay by card. You can also order drinks & desserts by scanning the QR code on your table & ordering online. Portions were very good and the food was nice quality. Service was great too. We went early (approx 17.45) and the food came out very quickly.
