Sat outside in the sun and had a lovely lunch. My cauliflower and stilton soup was really tasty. Great fries. Very good service.
Lovely 3 night Stay at the inn whilst I did the Marie Curie 13 Tors day hike in Darrmoor. Great breakfast spread and service by Tessa and the team there. Rooms are great, well stocked and clean. Just respect others noise levels and set expectations for sound proofing due to the nature of the buildings listed status, as a Londoner this was very quiet compared to what I am used to so a lovely get away. Pet dogs also welcome from the looks of it.
We had a wonderful stay at the inn—such a refreshing change after coming back from Cornwall. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made a big difference. Our room was lovely, clean, and cozy, and the kids were thrilled with the bunk beds! The pub was a real highlight—great atmosphere, delicious food (with healthy options too), and a small garden where the kids could run around and play. We also loved the quirky detail of watching the fuel station for cars and boats—oddly fun and kept the kids fascinated! A perfect mix of comfort, charm, and great hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!
We went on a Wednesday night to celebrate my daughters last day of 6th form and was greeted by professional staff who were lovely. Janey was polite and respectful, she took our order and was just delightful. The food was delicious, for 5 of us we ordered steaks mushroom tagliatelle, fish and burger. It was hot and the steak cut like butter. The ladies in the group had puddings and found the profiteroles to be outstanding. This gem is worth visiting, we will be, back there soon.
Went for Sunday lunch, set in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of outside seating to enjoy a drink in the lovely gardens. If you decide to eat, you won't be disappointed the roast beef was to die for, with perfect vegetables & lovely gravy. I chose hake, which was cooked to perfection, which came with brocoli, potatoes,& a lovely sauce. Couldn't fault anything location, meal, service 100%..will visit again.
Such an excellent establishment – the food is great, the service is excellent and the welcome is authentic. Close to the A38 and yet as far away from normal hassle and urban strife as one would want to be for a nice break or just for a good meal. Real attention to detail from the proprietors who have put together an experience, which will delight any new guest. My friend and I down here regularly at what we call our breakfast club, and it’s been a privilege to see how this business has developed. Charming surroundings, a cosy bar, a nice dining room and good quality accommodation.. Highly recommended!

With a quick visit to Buckfastleigh Abbey before returning home ready to face life's battle once again. Excellent value
Had dinner here for a family birthday and it was a great experience. Cocktails were lovely and food excellent. All served in a timely manner and the ladies who served us were so friendly. Will definitely be visiting again!
This is my regular stop for lunch or tea. The best cream tea around with freshly baked warm scones. Lovely outside gardens with comfy cushions on the seats. Even the sandwiches are made with real care and it shows.
