It’s rare that I write a review, let alone one on a local business I have supported for many years, but my recent experience has left me feeling very disappointed. In 2023 I had purchased a number of electrical items for a new build kitchen installation. Recently I discovered some damage to a kitchen unit which sits above the neff combi oven. It was obvious the damage had been caused by steam/condensation penetrating through the painted kitchen unit. At this stage I was unsure if the issue was due to the oven or the kitchen door. I had examined how the combi oven operated and once it heated up the steam extraction was concentrated on the left of the top of the oven – which was the only area of damage on the kitchen cupboard above. My first thought was to call into PJW electric to see if this is how the oven should operate. I called into the store and explained the issue to Jack Warnock the exchange was very pleasant and he made me feel that if there was a problem with the oven it would be fixed. He was unaware how the heat distribution worked but he explained the heat does come out of the vents above the oven. He asked me if I had registered the warranty and I was unsure. He told me to check if I had registered the warranty and to phone back to the store and they would organise someone to call out and examine the problem. I phoned back on a Saturday morning and Jack was not there so I spoke to the gentleman who answered the phone. I told him I had spoken to Jack and I couldn’t find an email from Neff regarding the warranty and could they send someone out. On Wednesday a person called to my house and introduced himself as Paul from PJW electrics. I showed him the problem. He had never encountered this issue and called another engineer while he was standing with me. Their discussions led to the conclusion the appliance hadn’t been installed correctly. He told him there needed to be air vents in the kickboards and ventilation above the oven. I accepted his explanation, I could contact the kitchen installer next. He then asked me how would I like to pay. This is where the level of service dropped. I looked at him completely dumbfounded then he said its £42. I told him I was completely unaware that I would be charged for this service and he said yes, he charges £42 and then he asked me how I thought he gets paid. I replied that I thought PJW pay him and he replied no all engineers are paid by the customer and if a Neff engineer had called out it would be £195. At this stage I am really angry that no one explained there was a charge and I was made to feel stupid because I expected the shop to cover this man’s time. He then phoned the store and explained he was with the customer who didn’t know there was a charge. He passed the phone to me. I spoke to a female who was adamant that I should pay this man, for his time and experience, I reiterated that no one told me there was any charge, apparently it didn’t matter, I needed to pay the engineer. I then asked to speak to Jack Warnock who was the person I had my initial conversation with, after I explained to him who I was (at first, he didn’t remember) then he remembered my issue and remembered he told here there was a £42 charge. I disputed this and told him there was no way he told me of a charge because I would have remembered. He then told me he would pay the engineer himself and I was barred from the store. I couldn’t believe how I was being treated. The engineer left and looked disgusted at me for not paying him. I was left in my own home on the brink of tears after the experience.

Family run business who are all knowledgeable about their products. We dealt with the son who remembered us from a few weeks ago whilst in browsing. He was able to get us a great deal on our appliances as we where buying a washing machine a fridge freezer and separate hob and oven. Would most definitely recommend buying local great prices and free delivery.
