Excellent little shop in Lace Market. I've been here a couple of times and the food and drinks are always fantastic. They also have a very tempting selection of cakes including vegan and gluten-free options lined up next to the window display. Prices are aligned with other independent cafes in the area. However, we have had been in multiple times for hot food only to be notified that they are only serving cakes and coffees without any specified reasons, despite a sign outside stating that brunch was served during the time - which is very unreliable. The atmosphere is nice and cosy, the shop is very clean and well decorated. The servers and waitresses are warm and helpful. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. Seating is limited so it can be full meaning they might not take on any more customers if they are running beyond capacity. Toilet available for customers.

Pretty dire all round. We’ve been here regularly for a number of years. It was Saturday lunch time and very quiet, now we understand why. The side salad looked like it was from last week. Brown and slimy. Also questionable hygiene having watched a member of staff washing up in the back.

Good place, good food and amazing service. Got the iced mocha with a shot of vanilla and the raspberry lemon cake. They both were average, compared to the price point. The cake had too much citrusy flavour and I couldn’t taste the chocolate in the iced mocha because the coffee flavour overpowers. Cafe looks great and was clean. They had many options for sandwiches and breakfast.

Lovely panini and good coffee. The milkshake (oreo) was great, but no vegan option available. The only let down was the oreo 'brownie' which was really dry. Otherwise a great little find in the heart of the city

It is my 'go to' cake and coffee place. Loooovvvveee their cakes so much. Already been there a number of times and it never fails to satisfy me. They have a lot of vegan options too. Coffee too is amazing ☺️. And friendly staff and good service. Usually crowded and really compact. Therefore not the best place to relax and have a meal. But overall it's a great place.

Visited for brunch on Sunday. Absolutely delicious food, cooked perfectly. The staff were welcoming and the atmosphere was warm and cosy. Well-priced. Think The Kitchen is going to become a weekend regular for us!

Lovely place in the city centre. 3 mins walk from Lacey car park. All home made. Specials board to add variety. Quick friendly service Great latte. Free help-yourself table water. Toilets. Dine-in or outside. UPDATE So we came back for desserts.... Well worth it. Millionaires slice and Raspberry Bakewell and Chocolate Fudge cake particularly good.

Sat outside with good weather. Ordered full breakfast, the fresh avocado and wake and bacon. Looked a bit better than it tasted, had some coffee as well that was ok. Good quality items but didn't quite come together. We confused the hash potatos with hash browns (hadn't seen them before) and weren't terribly excited about them. Service was decent albeit a bit slow, considering it was early and with a few customers only.

The establishment is serviced by a group of young ladies, very pleasant and tentative! The window display of cakes, pastries and bakes is very attractive …. And that’s the best. The cappuccino was good, the hazelnut latte though served in the same cup as a cappuccino was sickly sweet. Breakfast when it came looked beautiful! I am not a fan of the bacon or hash potatoes. The pork sausage was tasty. The Victoria sponge cake was lovely but the carrot and hazelnut cake had far too much raw cinnamon in the frosting.
