Really weird atmosphere. Felt like walking into the cantina from lego star wars

Food is very variable - £7 for the saddest salad I've ever seen, the advertised Lemon & Thyme grilled chicken was actually 5 pieces of sliced plain chicken out of a packet from the supermarket. But the hot sandwiches are pretty good.

This charming café offers a beautiful view of the lake, creating a lovely and inviting atmosphere. It’s wonderfully clean and cozy, making it a delightful spot to relax. However, I believe there’s room for improvement in the food quality, as it hasn't met my expectations. Additionally, I’ve noticed that the staff could be more welcoming, as they seem to struggle during busy times. I really hope these aspects can be enhanced, as I would love to visit more regularly!

Server Ovi. Very slow and condescending. Barista Jerry lovely Asked for bacon cob with egg added. He first smirked and said 'that's breakfast' And begrudgingly put in the order when I pointed out they served it till 11 and it was 1040. Then he tried to charge me for 2 cobs because I added an egg and said 'that's how it is' in the same condescending manner. As you can see from the photo. It clearly states any extra item, add £1. So I just got a bacon cob, which was nice. Lots of bacon, no sauce, buttered brioche bun. Extra star only given because barista Jerry was efficient and lovely and tried to apologise for his colleagues shortcomings

Me and my partner waited an hour for just a bowl of chips and a pizza which wasn't good anyway. It was very disappointing considering that it was also a very quiet day the extremely slow service didn't make sense. The atmosphere wasn't welcoming, with staff ignoring us and other tables and a waiter complaining about other customer orders infront of us. Very disappointed as I was looking forward to having a nice lunch here, would not go again. They also seem to be replying to negative reviews with just the same copy and paste 'apology' which seems very insincere.

Quite underwhelmed. During the summer, upon hearing great things about this place, I went with my partner and daughter and arrived just after opening time. We walked in and the only other people there were staff. We were looked at and then ignored, not by one member of staff but 2... on separate occasions, minutes apart. We didn't know if we should seat ourselves or wait... so we waited a good few minutes then decided we should seat ourselves. We were making obvious noises to draw attention to ourselves, but it attracted no glances. We looked at a menu, but it didn't seem to have much choice. Still hoping that a member of staff would come over, we waited. We also watched them having in depth conversation and a laugh with each other. After no attempt was made by the staff to engage with ourselves, we decided to leave. I'm not sure I want to go back and try again.

I want into Spokes on a Saturday morning and despite seeing two female members of staff at the back of the cafe I was ignored. They continued to chat to each other then went out of view. Some minutes later a man came out of the back and seemed surprised to see me but he quickly dealt with my order. Good coffee but no cakes or pastries. I will go the Nottingham University main site in future or Starbucks on Triumph Road.

Food very average, in some cases, poor. Restaurant is badly laid out making the quest for breakfast a disjointed affair. Staff are good hearted but poorly trained. With a bit of joined up thinking it has the potential to be so much better. Disappointing.

Don't understand why it's not busier in here! Very cyclist friendly - well it should be, it's on the old Raleigh site. Limited range but what there is is good. Service can be a little slow but it's not the sort of place you come to in a rush. Carvery is not what I would call carvery in that they plate it up for you!
